Bailey not answering questions from the press gets me down. All the hard workin’, rough hands, man of the people stuff and he is afraid of a bunch of press nerds. Meanwhile, Mr.Fancy suit, out of touch stands up and takes and answers (mostly) questions from the press.
I just don’t get why some folks don’t see that.
That is what I have been thinking about this morning.
Got Sandy Hamilton mailer, against pensions. Odd being from Springfield and real estate agent, I’m sure she sold at least one home to a Union member who pays with their pension check.

Bailey’s school, in addition to the strange stuff, is also supposed to have a rigorous STEAM curriculum. Will they be abandoning it since kinda in that area do not need it now?

==Candidates pay for those and then they get postage discounts. ==
Plus anything that would help the Postal Service stay in business. Political ads and advertising junk mail among them.

Happy about the Bulls’ opening night win as well as upcoming warmer weather.
Uihlein kicks in another $2 million to Bailey. Chump change compared to how much Griffin would have given Irvin.
I noticed another 2020 election denier is running for Madison County Board. The almost non-existent Democratic Party hasn’t mentioned this once. They need to do some party building or we’re going to join the Eastern Bloc.
Had the scavengers take my old garage door opener and save me from having to use a garbage sticker. Have to say I have come to appreciate those folks, can make stuff that I can’t take to Goodwill become useful as scrap.

To OneMan about the scavengers/scrappers/”junkmen”
While Hammond, Indiana banned them (some were breaking into empty homes and stripping scrap metal, wire, or taking gutters off, etc.) the ones by me take what they can sell for scrap or fix it up. I’d Rather they get it than it even gets to the recycling processing (which is a joke when they dump everything in one truck than have to pay sorters as well).
In Chicago, the “scavenger” scrap metal guys provide a great unappreciated service. If you put an old stove in the alley, it will be gone in half an hour.
Can you all help me out on Amendment 1? I’m a big supporter of unions in the private sector. I’m more on the fence with public unions, probably b/c of CTU. I oppose “right to work” but I also don’t like when CTU strikes for what appear to be political reasons unrelated to protecting their members. And I never want to give Police or Fire the right to strike.
So, is it a yea or nay on A1?

OW, what I wrote about fall colors hasn’t shown up which is usually my fault. bottom line come up to the great northwest. It will be a beautiful weekend.
Between us, do not tell anyone, I’m heading to Galena Saturday, have lodging, looking forward to 36 or so hours at one of my favorite places, bar none. The weather and the colors should both be spectacular.
- Yooper in Diaspora - Thursday, Oct 20, 22 @ 11:37 am:
At the McDonough County Board meeting last night, as the county board votes to oppose a proposed CO2 pipeline that could asphyxiate people if it leaks, many union workers showed up to ask that this construction job not be taken from them. The vote was still unanimous against supporting the pipeline.

Galena, it’s up there, for me, with some incredible places I’ve been lucky enough to visit, like a Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA, the charm and the experience of Galena, big or small cities, Galena stands strong as a place I love.
Plus, I can’t tell all the places in haunt in Galena, even if it’s just between you and I…

So glad I got the new booster almost a month ago. Just in time for XBB and BQ1.1 (and no, I’m not talking about some new barbeque restaurant):

No mention of Pat Quinn in recent mayoral election articles. Could he actually have gotten some common sense and decided that just maybe, running for Mayor isn’t worth it. Especially before MLL comes out with a similar “Quinn or Bailey” website similar to that she released against his 2014 LG running mate. And forces us to reminisce about the days of Squeezy, pension theft disguised as “reform” and the continued presence of Blago hacks in his administration:
- Rich Miller - Thursday, Oct 20, 22 @ 8:48 am:
Not the greatest, considering I misspelled a state legislator’s name twice today. Sigh.
But thanks for asking [banned punctuation]

Bye bye Liz Truss.

Got a Darin LaHood mailer that said “Paid for by Illinois Republican Party” on it.
Why is the state party doing mailers for a federal candidate with a big bank account and only nominal opposition?
- JoanP - Thursday, Oct 20, 22 @ 9:21 am:
Watching Lightfoot trying to justify the CPD not firing a guy who lied about his connections to the Proud Boys is really something.

Candidates pay for those and then they get postage discounts. C’mon, now. Keep up. It’s a big reason for the intra party Democrat fight.

I LOVE that I got my Liz Truss news from this thread on Cap Fax. Off to Twitter where Number 10 Cat is surely posting.

“A rumour swirling around Number 10 was that Truss’ fate was sealed due in part to her connection to a bloke named Mike Madigan from Illinois…”
