Macon county Judge ruling gun ban is unconstitutional. The judge linked it with the appellate court’s equal protection ruling in his comments. The so-called assault weapons and high capacity Mag ban is now arguably null and void statewide. JB and KR have an emergency appeal to IL Supremes
=== The so-called assault weapons and high capacity Mag ban is now arguably null and void statewide.===
So much to unpack here…
If something is “so-called”, what is it in actuality?
It …is/was/continues to be… an assault ban. Legislative intent says as such. Further, “arguably” is doing a great deal of work, putting into question the judge’s actual ruling as one to see as thoughtful or absolute in its intent, in short, nullifying the idea this judge’s own ruling is of consequence.
So, are you mocking the judge, the law, the process, pro and anti ban folks?
To the post,
The Hamlet of Oswego has one of the high schools, Oswego East in Elite Eight boys’ basketball playing in Normal at ISU.
Granted this ain’t a “Hickory” type of news, but cool all the same for the students.

OW- i remember when Oswego defeated East Aurora in the 1974 regional final. That was a huge upset and much more of a Hickory type situation then. Oswego had not yet seen its population boom.
Great point, and boy have times changed since those times, even in IHSA basketball, coining the “March Madness” phrase to now having 4 different divisions… and Oswego schools in the top enrollment … whew.
Since HS basketball has come up good luck to the Wolfpack of St Ignatius playing for a spot downstate tonight in Hoffman Estates. On another front my prediction of better days ahead for the FOP were dashed on Friday. I cant say what I really want to say about it due to language and decency rules on the blog. Lack of intelligence is as far as I will go. GO OSWEGO East and GO WOLFPACK.
I’m following news of the EIU faculty-staff union’s struggle for a contract from the administration. EIU-UPI chapter members will vote this week on whether to authorize a strike after a year of negotiations. Balanced news reporting of the issues seems to be scarce, but I chalk that up to a lack of local journalism.
Arsenal. several of us on this board are way interested in that and anyone who loves sports would think that match on Saturday was epic even if the opponent was at the bottom. Just keep us above Tottenham, we need a St. Totteringham’s Day. Add one more holiday to the calendar.

I was at an estate sale in Yorkville last month where programs, rosters and other memorabilia from that ‘74 Oswego team were for sale. I hope someone recognized and purchased that bit of history.

Hoping for some sun today here in beautiful DuPage County. Possible high temp of 60 degrees would be terrific for a walk.

Not if you understand the powers of a circuit court.

“Same”
That kind of historical should be saved, or bought, given to the high school.
Oswego, she’s an old town, got some history, that kind of high school history needs preservation
Thanks for the info. Maybe it’ll pop up, hopefully.
