With “Opening Day” baseball mere days away (March 30th), it’ll be the first time since 1968 that all 30 clubs (all teams, there weren’t no 30 clubs in 1968) will be in action.
After a disappointing Sox season and an even worse Cubs campaign, let’s hope both ball clubs entertain at the very least.
Dan Proft newspaper DuPage Policy Journal launching an 11th hour attack in the city of Naperville mayoral election, which is open seat among 3 candidates.
Thus far, mainstream media has not picked up the story.
Awake-IL has entered the Macomb School Board Race. Two candidates are outwardly advocating the “no masks, no vaccinations, no pornography, no racist books, fire the superintendent, do not teach history accurately” mantra.
There is a significant story on NBC’s webpage today about how this “pornography and racist books in school libraries” myth is being used to fund private education (vouchers) in suburban districts, The report argues this movement will ultimately cause great harm to struggling rural districts, when naive and falsely informed residents of rural school districts join the bandwagon (the Awake-IL movement) thinking they are going to become saviors. It argues this movement will ultimate harm school systems like Macomb, Canton, and the countless other schools that cannot afford to forego state funding in order to allow Naperville people to attend private schools.
Another day, another interest rate hike. The excess money in the state budget should be used to pay down the 5 pension systems and add to the state rainy day fund. Lowering the taxes too soon could make future tax increases more likely. We should keep in mind the interest rate increases are designed to slow down the economy. When the economy slows down, state revenue will drop off.
