Crowded Metra train going downtown. Most people I have seen on the train in years. Wondering if it is due to Kennedy construction or more people returning from remote work.
Hopefully that will the first step leading toward the cancellation of the race. Maybe Mayor Johnson could order the race’s cancellation as his first act as mayor.
Given the significant uptick in ridership the last week, I am betting on the Kennedy construction being an important factor. Not looking forward to the westbound trip today.
Sitting on a sunny porch on a beautiful day, drinking coffee, writing emails, hitting refresh on the weather app every 10 minutes going “This beautiful day isn’t really going to heck by lunch time, is it?”
Thunderstorm last night in Chicago was gorgeous. I’m sure there are a ton of photos of it floating around on twitter. Very localized, but massive lightning strikes in the loop clearly visible from very far away.
Mayor Elect Johnson named Rich Guidice as his Chief of Staff. Rich was head of Office of Emergency Management and Communication for past several years. He also worked for City for long time. He is great pick due to his in-depth knowledge of the City, experience managing a department, experience with emergency responses, and experience working on public safety.

“Sitting on a sunny porch on a beautiful day, drinking coffee”
Especially on 4/20 day, when something else is added. Can totally relate. The sky hasn’t fallen on Illinois or other states for legalizing.
Grandson of Man, no it hasn’t. I wish people wouldn’t smoke it in confined areas where people who didn’t choose to join in are involved, but I also wish people wouldn’t idle their vehicles by doorways. The important thing is we were supposed to be a zombie island by now with a significant part of the population zoned out and the other half seeking harder drugs having gone through the reefer madness gateway.

I think its the Kennedy in your case. No bump in passengers on the Cook County-subsidized Metra RID that charges half fare in its pilot Fair Transit program. There are acres of parking still available at the station.

Elon may have experienced “rapid structure disassembly” today but he made time to take all the blue checks away. What do state agencies, officials have planned?

@ Stuck in Celliniland -
Johnson can’t cancel this year’s race (the contract requires 180 days notice), but he can cancel the next two, and I hope he does.

I think he’s going to have more pressing issues.

Homebody - Due to said storms, I had to handle lightning protocols from Berwyn to Winnetka.
Made my evening…interesting.

I had some newer referees who were unsure what to do wrt protocols when being pressured to play by a coach or three.
