After more than twenty-five years, the time has come to cancel my Northwestern Football season tickets. The serious allegations have been shocking and the inept crisis management techniques of the university have been appallingly bad. The scandal seems to get worse by the hour and it looks as if hazing occurred in multiple sports.
Suburban Mom makes a Good point. Like the NASCAR race, If you’re not attending its a pain to get around certain parts of town. Advanced planning is helpful.
Would love to be at Lolla, but I’m old enough I think my festival days are behind me.
Down in the 618 we sit on the edge of the heat dome, and tonight is supposed to be another flooding event as the storms circulate around the heat. Debating whether its better to be under the dome (like the Simpsons movie) or to be subject to the occasional downpours.
I’ve never particularly enjoyed festivals, especially in the summer, for a variety of reasons. But I am very much in favor of them existing, and think we should have more of them.
Congratulations to the Illinois Air Team for having the first on-line government form that required the nine-digit zip code.

Here in beautiful DuPage County temps have moderated with a little cloud cover, getting up to about 80 today. August can be much worse than this.
Sorry to say that the White Sox have sunk so low so early. My Dad used to say that if your team is still in the race on Labor Day, it’s been a good year. This year they didn’t make it to the 4th of July.

Fireflies (”Lightning Bugs”) have arrived en mass in the 60827. Had to wave one off from trying to land on my nose after cutting my grass early evening yesterday. They don’t appear to navigate so well.
Going to the lakefront tonight to observe the Super Moon (aka Sturgeon Moon) come up over Lake Michigan. Should be a beautiful night, but clouds could hamper my view. Why can’t summer weather in Chicago be like this everyday?

Always love the city’s energy during Lolla, but it’s not my favorite time of the year to be using public transit.

Include me out. I want no part of this program.
