    Waking up this morning:
“We did what?? I told you tequila was a bad idea”

  2. - Amalia - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 8:55 am:

well, they are almost drowning in idiocy so I guess that fits.

  3. - Three Dimensional Checkers - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:03 am:

Is the Richard Porter/Don Tracy photo a thirst trap for the alt-right?

  4. - TheSouthern - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:04 am:

I thought the GOP typically frowned upon this sort of “male bonding”?

  5. - Kayak - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:10 am:

Alexi. These guys aren’t to flippin’ a flippin’ thing.

  6. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:18 am:

I’ve been commenting that the ILGOP has been all wet for quite sometime.

Surprised they wanted to take thoughts like that literally

  7. - Huh? - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:18 am:

Symbolic of the super minority, a couple of red dots bobbing in a blue pool.

  8. - cermak_rd - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:30 am:

    Huh? –
I was going to say that, it’s noticeable to me that pool is very blue.

  9. - OneMan - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:38 am:

Besides the quality of the look of having a GOP thing in a back yard of a large house with a pool (at least is wasn’t Bailey’s front porch).

Going say Alexi has the best picture (10K not letting the weather get to him).

Impressed with the flip in jeans into the pool however.

  10. - God's Country - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:49 am:

When your message has no positive substance, you have to rely on gimmicks and tricks to motivate.

This is my party, and it makes me weep.

  11. - Henry Francis - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:52 am:

ILGOP - trying to make a splash, but barely treading water.

  12. - Springfield Observer - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:56 am:

Hmmm. Looks like the ILGOP see blue waves too.

  13. - Wading in... - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:57 am:

Nothing builds political solidarity like a good frat house party trick.

  14. - Lurker - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 9:58 am:

And why is Porter wearing blue? Did he miss the whole symbolism of the effort? Answer: he did ok since the whole effort was missed

Also, I think someone is paying extra in ads to get that Alexi picture up again. 😉

  15. - JustAThought - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 10:04 am:

    Can’t both just be fun?

  16. - Sayitaintso - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 10:05 am:

I don’t know if this is true or not, but someone said Alexi never leaves the house without a large mirror.

  17. - Frida's boss - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 10:15 am:

Relationship goals- Get yourself someone who looks at you the way Richard Porter looks at Don Tracy

  18. - Sterling - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 10:16 am:

It’s more emblematic that Alexi’s pic is walking through city streets in support of a marginalized population while the GOP pic is in the backyard pool of a mansion surrounded by donors.

  19. - Rudy’s teeth - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 10:38 am:

    Alexi for the win.

The Republican version resembles two guys who were overserved at a frat party during Parent’s Weekend.

  20. - fs - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 10:56 am:

Say what you will about Alexi, and I’m definitely not a fan, but even his look is better than whatever that Tracy/Porter thing is supposed to be.

Nothing says connecting with the problems of Illinois and its voters to “flip the State red” like two wealthy politicos doing playing in the pool beside their million dollar lake house. Wait, what?

  21. - Amalia - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 10:58 am:

who wore it better? oh worst dressed is way more fun. besides the woman in the blue and white frock with the unfortunate and uncomfortable choice of footware by the pool, worst dressed is diving guy.

  22. - Siualum - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 10:59 am:

Is that a Baby Ruth at the bottom of the pool?

  23. - Michelle Flaherty - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 11:08 am:

Pool safety mandate bills are already being drafted. On that last photo, is that a dead body in the water?
    Alexi wins.

  24. - Quizzical - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 11:11 am:

Did he just say that he’s a golden god?

  25. - Golden - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 11:14 am:

A belly flop followed by a “nailed it” high five seems like the perfect metaphor for the Illinois Republican Party.

  26. - hisgirlfriday - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 11:33 am:

I’d say Republican co-defendants flipping on Trump is a bit more likely than Republicans flipping Illinois red in 2024.

  27. - JS Mill - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 11:37 am:

    Alexi wore it better.

I thought the ilgop was against “gimmicks”?

    BTW- @Quizzical wins the day.

  28. - NIU Grad - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 11:40 am:

Playing in a pool in the backyard of a McMansion while the Democrats are celebrating successes at a rally is the perfect symbolism for the ILGOP.

  29. - Dance Band on the Titanic - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 12:00 pm:

So this comes down to which is a better look: “drinking pina coladas” versus “getting caught in the rain”.

  30. - Save Ferris - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 12:07 pm:

    Aaron Shock looks great.

  31. - Sayitaintso - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 12:24 pm:

    ‘No, I can’t walk on water….but I CAN do Water-Handstands,,,,,,just watch THIS..’

  32. - Michelle Flaherty - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 12:39 pm:

    Earlier that evening …
Bailey: You gotta pool over there?
Tracy: We have a pond, in the back. We have a pool and a pond. Pond’d be good for you.

  33. - Ruth Dakin - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 3:51 pm:

    @Quizzical — You are home.

  34. - Huh? - Thursday, Aug 17, 23 @ 3:57 pm:

    Hold my beer …
