* I hope you all had a relaxing weekend. What’s going on in your part of Illinois?

I wouldn’t mind it if the weather settled down a bit, though I appreciate fewer days having to scrape my windshield in the morning. Highs in the mid/upper 70s in November are better than highs in the mid/upper 20s, I guess.

Here in West Central Illinois, the weather has been interesting to say the least. We have finally has a cold-snap, but it was short lived. I just hope it killed off most of the pollens. We need another cold or two though. Allergy season seems prolonged here.

On a positive note, a bald eagle was resting in one of my trees the other day. I also have a hawk or two that seem to like the farm. And I saw the first bluejay yesterday. So there is that.

End of DST snuck up on me. I literally would have forgotten but for someone I follow on Twitter mentioning it Saturday evening. That first dark at 5pm night is always kind of jarring.

I think we need to normalize keeping Christmas lights up from November 1 to April 1. If it is dark out, we should have sparkly pretty twinkles.

  4. - Drivetime - Monday, Nov 6, 23 @ 10:59 am:

    Gorgeous fall day.

Personally, I just need to get through two more Saturdays - Lemont this weekend and Lebanon the next. After that, Jack Frost can vacation for all I care.

    Seconded!

Wisco Expat, I second that Christmas lights rec. expand to Hanukkah, Diwali, Yalda, everybody light up. ok, maybe that too….

  9. - RNUG - Monday, Nov 6, 23 @ 11:51 am:

RE Christmas lights … I was thinking of putting mine up this week.

Did anybody see what Axelrod said about Biden this weekend? Kind of nuts to see such a prominent voice publicly speculate like that.

I do genuinely wonder if something is up.

(writing this as a massive Biden supporter btw)

If he ran that by Obama first, I’d agree.

  12. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Nov 6, 23 @ 12:22 pm:

The election is a year away.

The GOP nominee will be an ardent “Pro-Life” candidate that will not be able to duck that women in each state are seen different to their rights.

    It’s way too early.

    Ask Obama and Nate Silver.

  13. - Wisco Expat - Monday, Nov 6, 23 @ 2:09 pm:

Amalia, as long as the lights are pretty, they can celebrate whatever holiday they want. :)

  14. - Stu - Monday, Nov 6, 23 @ 2:22 pm:

    Ross out, Counsell in…

    Wow.

This is going to be an awkward week…

The Cardinals should respond by firing Marmol and going after Ross. Mozeliak, do you read this blog?

  17. - Amalia - Monday, Nov 6, 23 @ 4:54 pm:

@Wisco Expat I don’t know about pretty but easy interests me, solar, battery lights so much better than running cords all over the place.
