Just looked at the weather forecast in Chicago for the next week and it looks gorgeous. 50 degree sunny days for a week straight. Chicago summers are great and all, but I absolutely love sunny, crisp fall days.
Are these plants using a standardized design, or is each plant recreated from scratch?
As a Pulitzer Prize finalist for their 1983 series of the Washington Public Power Supply System, the Seattle Post Intelligencer uncovered the lack of standardized plant design (unlike the French, who did standardize) drove the cost over-runs.
In fact, when this was discussed in the mid 1950s, a proposal to standardize plant design was rejected by the Eisenhower Administration with “No, that’s socialism.”
If plant design isn’t standardized, it’ll be small scale repeats of Illinois Power’s Clinton plant.
The Daily Journal (Kankakee area) published a story yesterday about Herscher school district taking delivery of two EV busses and so many people lost their minds about it on the DJ Facebook page. Some voices of reason of course but the area is particularly anti EV right now with the Gotion plant going into Manteno.
In an effort to cut $13 million dollars from its budget, Bradley University (Peoria) has announced the elimination of 17 programs and cutting 47 current faculty positions with another 21 to be unfulfilled through attrition.

Nice cool fall weather to enjoy this weekend, though if you have allergies, the last few days have probably been challenging.

Well at least they have their Chinese made smart phones to express their outrage. In the good old days they’d have to fire off a letter to the editor.

I just looked at it. Have you ever noticed that people who love to say “Do your research” have no idea how to do research?

Everyday. I also notice that these people think higher education is indoctrination according to their research. SMH
