The dogs are very unhappy about it. They generally love being outside, but with this cold, they are out for only a couple of minutes before wanting to go back in again.

Did all my shopping last thursday. Haven’t had to go out at all since last Friday.
Took a trip out today to pick up some milk since it warmed up to 0, and thought something was wrong with the car. Turns out the tires on the car were ‘formed’ into their resting shape from the cold, and were wobbly until they warmed up enough from moving.
Other than that, lots of naps and cooking of meals which require a long time in the oven and/or boiling water to keep the humidity up.
Since the dogs are staying in and we have snow on the ground, interesting to read the critter “news” when doing chores. Mink has been up and around but no coyotes… yet. Cottontails are leaving tracks everywhere. Still have hawthorne berries aren’t, but the birds are working on them… and the feeders.
Spending too much time in the ComEd app hoping that the high hourly pricing for the last 3 days doesn’t undo the savings I should have from the rest of the unusually mild month. Last month I saw a savings of $67 or 55% of the supply costs over what my bill would have been with standard pricing. The rest of this month should have been similar savings up until the last few days. At least I only have a few more days to wait to see my bill since my billing cycle is ending in a day or two.
My kids were back to school today. Starting to worry about some pipes, but have been keeping a close eye on the usual suspects. That’s a nice benefit of working from home.
I’m staying inside with tea, books, cats, and lots of cold-weather comfort food (soups, stews, etc.)
I cancelled my appointment with my trainer on Monday and am tempted to do the same Thursday.
The cats seem to be hibernating. Breakfast, then go curl up on my bed until it’s time for dinner, then back to the bed, until about 5:00 a.m. when it’s time to attack the crinkly balls.

By arguing with each other. It reminds me of the Simpsons episode where burns and homer are trapped in a log cabin after an avalanche. Starting to see snowmen (snowpeople ?) everywhere…
Ours is very business like and then back to the couch, and while your sitting there can you change the channel…I’ve seen this episode already. I’d do it myself but my big paws dont work with this stupid tiny remote we have.
happy the car started today. running all the taps. furnace keeping up, good thing we did that annual check. feeling the pressure of all that cold and the storm and sleeping more than usual.
My cottage has persevered. No frozen pipes (dripped the faucets), furnace performed admirably and other than sleeping in a hoodie and sweats, I’m happy to have survived this round.

Made a couple of pots of soup over the weekend and hunkered down with a fire
Frosty cold day but perfect weather to get news that the ECHL is going to kick Bloomington-Normal’s tires with a minor league pro hockey expansion. Here’s hoping that they fare better than the Thunder/Prairie Thunder/Flying Aces.
Husband’s vehicle - diesel engine froze up downtown Springfield over the weekend. Good times. Towed, defrosted and started right up though. I didn’t even know that was a thing.

A few days of hibernation. Just hoping and glad so far everything is working fine: no power outages, burst pipes, heater breaking, etc.
