Kullgren said Mayor Johnson saw the alleged incident.
“The mayor gave no indication he didn’t want to talk to me until his staffer started shoving me. He saw the whole thing happen and didn’t intervene,” Kullgren told Fox News Digital via email when asked for additional comment. […]
3 hours elapsed between those tweets. The Mayor’s team could have come up with a better story. Also, elbowing and shoving someone is a crime. So unless there’s a police report…
“1st time in 15 years as a reporter I’ve had anything like this happen. Unbelievable”
The reporter came out first with his comments, mayor’s team took three hours to reply. Makes no sense that a Bloomberg reporter would “make it up”. Hopefully, there is a video of the incident from a third-party
The lack of a serious opposition party in Illinois, means the current D party structure doesn’t have to work as hard to put forth well-rounded candidates.
Johnson is who the Ds put up, because it doesn’t matter at all. His significant internal competition was Vallas after all, and that was still a closer race than it ever should have been.
I’m not saying there is ever a chance of an R winning a mayoral race in Chicago, but a non insane opposition can at least drive debates in a meaningful direction and better filter out who rises to the top.
Instead the opposition party is complaining about cat litter, and injecting themselves with bleach.
And Brandon Johnson is sitting in the mayors chair.
MBJ and his office have zero credibility whatsoever. And given the three hour time lag, I’m going with the Bloomberg reporter’s account as the accurate. Hopefully it’s like one of those Progressive commercials and someone can just throw the red flag for the replay review.
Who should I believe: The out-of-town reporter with no city connections, or the mayor’s office that has decided the problem with the previous two administrations was that they weren’t adversarial enough toward the press? Hard to tell, really. Gotta hear both sides on this one.
I’ll wait to pass final judgment until after the inevitable tapes come out, but this seems likely to be another case of the mayor surrounding himself with less than reputable people.
Hey, at least we didn’t get MBJ saying “The entitled reporter from a White/right-leaning publication that covers the 1% was trying to ensnare us with a leading question against the Black & Brown Community…”, so I guess that’s progress?

I’m betting on the reporter asking a question the Mayor didn’t want to answer so the CTU came up with a distraction.

Never would have thought someone could make Lori Lightfoot look competent and relatively collegial. But Brandon proved me wrong.

Who does the mayor’s aid think he is? Greg Gianforte?

First the Brighton Park migrant camp debacle, next the ‘do-not-hire’ mess, now this.
Does ANYONE in Mayor Johnson’s team have experience being on the 5th floor? I wouldn’t trust them to run a bake sale.
