Will County judge appears to be making a point about how the Safe-T-Act is forcing him to release the Joliet killer’s girlfriend on her charge of obstructing justice. She has a 3 year old child and is being released on electronic monitoring. Seems to be an entirely reasonable decision. Just because the killer was a threat doesn’t mean the girlfriend is a threat. I’m not up on all the facts here but I haven’t heard anything in the news that would warrant her not being eligible for release.
There was a great article in the Trib about suburban Cook schools and park districts complaining about the “confusing and burdensome” new paid leave requirements and the county board scrambling to exempt them. Crisis averted. (except for the businesses throughout the state that are subject to these new “confusing, burdensome” requirements)
