Just came back from a four day tour of Southern Illinois (Eastern Shawnee National Forest region). Cave in Rock State Park is a gem, and Garden of the Gods, the Crown Jewel. Carl Jung’s “house” is a hoot! And the free ferry to Kentucky leads to a large Amish community. As a bonus, we drove to Peducah, KY to see the National Quilt Museum. We had a wonderful getaway.
Two losses shy of tying the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies modern era record of 23 straight is the focus of discussion, but the last place Phillies actually won 47 games and posted a .305 winning percentage. The White Sox seem unlikely to equal that win total and percentage. Chicago would need 20 wins to reach 47.
The silence from Reinsdorf is deafening.

It’s been 20 years since the Dave Matthews Band tour bus incident on the Kinzie Street Bridge.
John Deere job losses close to 3,000 - half in Illinois, half in Iowa. Very tough situation for about 1,500 Illinoisans.
Great chance for Team Pritzker to help.

Wow, if you would’ve told me a solid blue state Governor was the VP pick and it *wasn’t* JB Pritzker I would’ve called you crazy.
Odd choice to me. Would’ve greatly preferred Shapiro or JB.

oh if it is Walz she is being very smart. his story is amazing and he is a very relatable person.

Very glad Pritzker is staying in Illinois. Great VP pick, that should result in lots of Democratic unity and not stop the momentum Harris is building.

Whew - win-win on the veep pick. Harris joins with a person of high integrity and we keep Pritzker.

“Don’t Drink the Water”, indeed, Dave.

As a lapsed baseball fan, the White Sox somehow got my attention. Every day I check the score to see if the streak has continued.

Not sure Harris wins Pennsylvania with Walz as her VP candidate. Pennsylvania is a must win state.

I was taking a meeting on my back porch in Berwyn today. There was a chilly almost cold wind blowing from the north. In August?
