Spent some time in Chicago this weekend. On the way there I chuckled at a billboard touting Sheboygan Wisconsin as the “Malibu of the Midwest.” While in Chicago I enjoyed some eavesdropping on some tourists from Louisiana taking a water taxi on the lake. “It’s like Destin!” they exclaimed as they raved about how clear and beautiful the lake water was. Time to put up some “Chicago - Destin of the Midwest” billboards I guess.
@hisgirlfriday I was at the Fulton Market art fair this weekend and heard some young women saying they liked that area because it reminded them so much of Dumbo
I’m convinced that the fastest way to convert a Chicago hater is to give them a ride on the lakefront and river water taxi on a nice warm & breezy summer day.
Sitting back and enjoying a sunny day and the fact the Chiefs are in the playoffs. That is something we don’t seem to be seeing from the various big league teams.
TJ - Been there, done that. Still hate Chicago. Too much traffic, too many people, depending on where you are located, can’t see the horizon. Give my corn fields and country roads.
It sounds as though what you are saying is that you hate cities in general, not Chicago specifically?
But there are people who’ve heard horror stories about Chicago, heard politicians tell lies about it, and then are surprised when they come here and see that it’s not the “cesspool” they’ve been led to believe it is.
Yeah, that’s just a general urban complaint, not a Chicago complaint. You’ll be hard pressed to find a major city that doesn’t have a lot of people, traffic, or buildings blocking the horizon.
I mean folks that think any five-minute walk in Chicago will lead to you suffering three separate felonies and witnessing sixteen more.
Forgot to mention that right wing whacks seemed to hit bottom over the weekend with the piece using EasternBlocHead Caulkins as their “expert” on ethics. Guessin’ this means they are out of gas.
Fantastic weather recently in beautiful DuPage County. My Dad used to say his favorite time of year was when you could sleep with the windows open. It’s been that kind of week, Dad.
Same Caulkins that shared a fake picture of Lawry’s steakhouse boarded up with Kamala posters on all the boards this week as well. Original photo boarded up is from when it closed in 2020. Someone added the Kamala posters to it and said it was closed due to the convention. It hasn’t been open for almost four years. Those boards are also not there anymore.

It was a beautiful weekend in Chicago, perfect weather. I spent Friday and Sunday at the Jazz Fest, which is always fun.

I am in complete agreement with that sentiment. There is nothing like fresh air.
