Finally a little rain relief in West Central IL. We need more, but for now a little is welcomed relief. The crop harvest has been going pretty strong to date, so I imagine a day or two of rest will not disappoint to many farmers.
The White Sox are beyond depressing. The two blown late inning leads against the Padres were painful.
With six games to go, it seems almost a certainty that by season’s end the Sox will own the modern major league record for the most losses in a season.
What does the front office do for 2025? There seems to be no strategy at all.
Hope Illinois can make it 3 wins over ranked opponents in a row.
But even if they can’t, the oddsmakers putting the Illini as a 17.5-point underdog seems pretty insane when Penn State wasn’t even ahead of Bowling Green at halftime 2 weeks ago.
The Sox are so incompetently run that if they decide to teardown and intentionally tank, they’re basically guaranteed to do better than this year where they were somewhat trying.
A friend of mine wants to go see the Sox tomorrow when they can clinch the all-time record for losses in a season. I said no, since I can’t bring myself to root for the Sox to lose after rooting for them to win since 1958.
The Cubs suffered through two awful seasons under Dale Sveum in 2012 (101 losses) and 2013 (96 losses), but capitalized on quality draft picks afterwards. From 2015-2018, the team was in the postseason.
The question to be answered for the White Sox is how good are their scouts? The draft picks have to be solid to help with a rebuild.

Tyson Bagent would have won that game., I’m thinking
Oh well — Let’s bet the house again on a new QB before building an offensive line.
