Yesterday the Illinois Executive Ethics Commission posted 12 Executive Inspector General Reports, making 15 for the year. All 12 were related to COVID relief. Seems they’re going after cases with $ thresholds low enough they wouldn’t be prosecuted ($20K). IIRC nearly half for FY 2024’s reports were also COVID relief.
Refreshing in an election year to see a discussion about crime not descend to bashing of non-white immigrants. But, what is this nefarious power wielded by this “Black Caucus” entity? /s
My wife won’t let me turn the heat on yet. Have others turned on those furnaces yet? (if the answer is no, please do not respond as I need to show my wife that everyone else has done it)
I tried to turn it on yesterday but the pilot light is not cooperating. Waiting for a repairman to get me on the schedule. It was 52 degrees this morning and the wife is not happy about it at all.
Early voted yesterday in McLean County. Can I opt out of seeing any and all political ads for the next twenty days, please?

In Cook County (60827), lit the pilot light and fired up the heat since the house was down to a very damp 61 degrees.Yes, I said “pilot light”; the furnace dates back to at least the 1990’s.
Will whoever put the advisory referendum on the November ballot asking if Riverdale’s Village Board should adopt a resolution asking the Governor for more school funding but not paying for it in property taxes, please explain why we needed a referendum to pass a resolution, when the Board has done resolutions for decades without referendums?

Bummed about the True Value bankruptcy.
Was great having a hometown hardware store for decades even in a town with no stoplights.

I snuck the furnace on late last night while wifey was asleep, should not need today tonight. Bonus first frost means only one last grass mowing.

Our furnace is on, but set to 68 degrees. I think it’s time to have a fire in the woodstove.

Nearing my favorite time of the year - warm enough to enjoy but cool enough to tamp down the bees.
