Sangamon County board member, Clyde Bunch, has passed away at age 88. He represented Springfield’s east side for 46 years. He was always one of a few Democrats on a board dominated by Republicans.
The trips to Northern Ireland and Germany, who is paying for these trips? I get trade mission trips, and I know there is often private sponsorship of these trips. Also, those trips result in tangible results for the state. The Northern Ireland and Germany trips both seem like meetings that could have occurred via Zoom.

Participated in a text poll over the weekend, asking me if I support Raja, Rahm, Underwood or Stratton in the 2026 Democratic primary. There was also a question about what I thought about Rahm’s tenure as Chicago mayor.
I was proud call Clyde Bunch a friend, fellow Sangamon County Board Member and fellow Democrat.
He once told me, “Randy the best part of us being Democrats on the Sangamon County Board is we can caucus in the elevator on the way up to the board chambers”. He always had a great sense of humor.
He was a living database of Sangamon County Government. He took some arrows for working with GOP members but he always cared more about fixing problems then worrying about who got the credit for it.
The Honorable Martin C Kelley, Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, passed away last week - a true gentleman - who treated all parties with patience and respect - only 58.
