Recall the Governor’s proposal yesterday regarding community colleges offering four-year degrees in areas where working adults don’t have access to a university? Well the Chancellor of City Colleges of Chicago sent an email to all of the CCC staff and faculty about the wonderful opportunities this proposal would provide to the CCC. The sector knows that once that door creaks open, they will force it all the way.

Unlike the Chicago Public Schools, which recently held school board elections, the City Colleges of Chicago continue to be governed by an appointed board of trustees selected by the Chicago mayor. The CCC is in need of serious improvement as it is a bastion of patronage politics and DEI programming.

The IBHE enrollment and degree data tool is a bit wobbly but has tons of useful data
ISU beat Bradley last night. This is the best in-state rivalry (Yes, better than Illinois-Northwestern). Read both coaches want these games to be scheduled on the weekend, to get bigger crowds. You can bet alumni from both schools would love to roadtrip down from Chicago to either venue.
I agree with Bogey… with the exception that it is the biggest game/series in Illinois outside of Chicagoland. Heck, some of my friends up here had no clue that Bradley was in Peoria, let alone in Illinois. They probably think that Illinois State is a community college…

City Colleges of Chicago has increased the number of associates degrees awarded in the last 10 years from 3,779 to 4,637 or about 23 percent.
No notes on the politics of CCC but the performance is improving.
