May 2025, the University of California Davis published a study that found 72% of Wolf scat was Cattle remains. Wolves prefer Cattle, Goats and Sheep because they are half as fast as wildlife and much easier to catch. I hope the Senate votes No on HB 2726 Rewilding bill which is a Gray Wolf Reintroduction bill. I watched a two hour and 32 minute video last week on the Cochise County channel and in one Wolf attack eleven Cattle were killed.

Love it, Rich. Kerner was a good man. Thank you for sharing this.

Great to read the notes and listen to the music of Lurlean Hunter. BITD, was fortunate to hear George Shearing at a club. Also Johnny Frigo and Joe Vito at a club in Chicago. Those were the days of the 9, 11, and 1 am shows.

Wow, what a find.
I’m surprised while they were governor either Blago or Quinn’s campaign staffs didn’t unearth this song and try to do their own parody lyrics supporting Rod or Pat. (Or back when Wordslinger was still with us could churn out his own versions of a Rod or Pat take on “OK Otto Kerner”).

They don’t make campaign songs like that any more. Loved it.

At my school’s graduation, I made a mental note of where our 380 graduates are going in the fall.
U of I and ISU: too many to track
NIU: 6
All other directionals: 0

I used to have a copy of this single - it may still be somewhere. I have a copy of his campaign materials notebook, too. (My dad worked on his campaign).
It’s sad that he was one of the better governors since Stevenson - and a convicted felon.

A rather unfortunate typo in the Sun-Times Morning Edition email newsletter today. Here’s the correction: ‘The original Morning Edition newsletter for Monday, May 19, contained an erroneous description of Pope Leo XIV and his place of birth. He is the “Chicago-born pope.” ‘
Use your imagination.

There was an F4 tornado near Marion Il.Friday evening. Unless I overlooked it, I see no mention of it here today.

I don’t think Lurlean Hunter was OK with Big Jim (who prosecuted Kerner).
