Is Danny Davis retiring this cycle?
I’ve wanted him out of Congress ever since the Moonie ceremony but it seems especially imperative that Dems *finally* show him the door when he will be 85 when Nov. 2026 rolls around.
The same Dem operatives that shielded Biden from questions about age-based decline before the 2024 debate closed ranks around all the old Dems in Congress and as a result we just had yet another Dem die in office — the one who Congressional Dems picked to lead the House Oversight committee over AOC.
As a result of this and the other Dem vacancies, Republicans will have an easier time getting their Medicaid and SNAP cuts through.
Hope someone is ready to retire Davis if he is not willing to take that step himself.
That story I told about the B-52’s and SNL yesterday? Same with DEVO. I’ve always been a big fan.

Did HB 2726 have the third reading in the Senate yesterday as planned? This is the Rewilding bill to have the Department of Natural Resources release Grey Wolves, Black Bears and Cougars into State Parks. What is the time lag in updating actions on bills on the ILGA website?
I don’t subscribe to them so I would not know, but did last Sunday’s SJR and other Gannett papers also get that AI-generated fake books special section that the S-T also received? I have a bad feeling that a lot of Gannett’s special sections on Sunday seem to be AI-written, if not about 90% of the paper nowadays. I don’t think the remaining 4 or so staff at the SJ-R are doing it all by themselves.

Also dreary here in beautiful DuPage County this morning. Not much good in the forecast for the holiday weekend either. But getting together with the kids and grandkids so all is good….

Devo is doing a 50-year anniversary tour this summer. I think St. Louis will be a stop. I might have to go see that.
=Hope someone is ready to retire Davis if he is not willing to take that step himself.=
Kina Collins or Melissa Conyears Ervin perhaps?
Maybe even Kat A. could decide to switch to the 7th?

Thinking about the park district board meeting last night in my portion of Forgottonia.
They spent time complaining how younger people are lazy and don’t want to work…because they can’t get them to volunteer to help the district out.
Last I checked most people don’t seem to rush to help after being badmouthed.
