Friday, Jun 27, 2025 - Posted by Rich Miller * No song today because I want you to watch the absolute best sheep dog ever…
Nelson looks like Oscar when he was a little puppy. * Please keep your comments Illinois-centric. Thanks.

Is this video a metaphor for the Illinois GOP?
- DEE - Friday, Jun 27, 25 @ 8:29 am:

Who’s herding who?

The item in Isabel’s morning briefing about Mayor Ali’s State of the City address reminds me: Mayor Cohen Barnes of DeKalb has never fulfilled this state requirement since his first election in 2021. It’s annoying. Yet probably the least of his sins in office.
- Captain Obvious - Friday, Jun 27, 25 @ 9:08 am:
This is called “gentle herding.” Rather than get behind the sheep and nip at their heels, the dog is trained to lead the sheep where they need to go by getting them to chase.
- Linus - Friday, Jun 27, 25 @ 9:12 am:
Nelson’s simply leading sheep rather than pushing them. #perspective

Got an appointment yesterday and update my driver’s license to Real ID level. Was incredibly smooth and easy the fellow that help me was great. That is a positive for sure.

If you set this video to Yackety Sax, you COULD have a Friday song and watch the dog.
Just saying.
- Lurker - Friday, Jun 27, 25 @ 10:06 am:
I love it ChrisB

Sit, Oscar, sit. Good dog. Arf.
(throwback to the legendary UBU production spots at the end of Cheers and Family Ties back in the 80s).

Could Peoria’s Heart of Illinois Fair become a thing of the past after this year?
Tuesday night the City of Peoria approved buying the Expo Gardens fairgrounds for a housing development:

If the HOI fair needs a new location, Three Sisters Park south of Chillicothe would be a great existing candidate. (Although a drawback is Three Sisters is about the same distance to Henry, where Marshall-Putnam fair is up the road on 29, as it is to Expo Gardens.). Not sure about alternate sites in Tazewell and Woodford for the HOI fair, but another possibility that could be a great site for a new fairground could be one of those horse stables in the Brimfield and Kickapoo areas (but similar close proximity problem as Brimfield is not too far away from the site of the Knox County Fair in Knoxville).
