Thursday, Jul 10, 2025 - Posted by Rich Miller * What follows is my late paternal grandma Lucille, my dad Rich I, and my niece Rosalee (Isabel’s older sister) at my brother Devin’s house more than a quarter century ago. I wish this video could go on forever… As I’ve always said, I love all my nieces to pieces (and my nephews). And I sure do miss my grandma. What’s up by you?

I hate the ILGA’s new website so much.
I used to be able to google a particular statute name or citation and have the ILGA page come up instantly as a result so I could instantly click and look at the text. Not anymore.
Then when you click on other legal resource pages that come up in the google research because those pages have references to the specific statutes being discussed, those links to the statute text are all now broken because of the ILGA website change.
Defeated I go to the new ILGA website itself and use its cumbersome search function. I search the phrase “prompt payment act” using the public acts tab and all the search results are statutes referencing the prompt payment act but not the actual “prompt payment act” itself.
Thanks ILGA for wasting my tax dollars to make your website worse.

And my apologies for not getting my gripe above in order for yesterday’s QOTD

Woke up to a temp of 67 degrees here in beautiful DuPage County, so got a walk in before breakfast. Listen to music on headphones to get away from the news for 45 minutes or so.

I look forward to when Isabel’s story is ready about the reasons and background for the first ILGA website change in almost 22.5 years.

Not political and more on topic with Rich’s video post. My 26-year-old daughter and I went to Wednesday’s Sox-Jays game and then took a trip to the Far South Side to pay respects to her grandparents (my parents) who died in the 1960s. It was her first trip to any cemetery — and notably one where direct relatives are buried. I tried to keep things light, but I think the visit made her think about families, mortality and what happens when we pass. She very sweetly said “we should have brought flowers.” Next time, I said.

I got heat, humidity and bugs in the 60827. And I’ve got a lack of patience with the above. At least my air conditioning works.

I agree with hisgirlfriday - I am a lawyer and it was always very eassy to just Google the statutory section you wanted to make sure you had the up to date version. Under the new ilga website you can’t do this, and have to waste a lot of time to find it. Somebody forgot: IF IT AIN’T BROKEN, DON’T FIX IT!
