Monday, Aug 4, 2025 - Posted by Rich Miller * An airplane is circling the Statehouse Complex while towing a banner that reads “Mess With Texas.” Not a great pic, don’t know who paid for it, but here you go… ![]() …Adding… This one is a bit more clear… ![]()

A man who can’t walk said “Texans don’t run from a fight”. Then another man who is already in the Top 10 most corrupt state officials of *any state* in history (and gunning for #1) said “They’re felons, we’ll arrest them”.
No comment other than it is a WILD timeline we’re living in.

Sounds like a call for the Governor to issue an EO calling for a halftime redraw of Illinois’ congressional map. Kind of like 1965 all over again. Even if he goes to one of those 17-0 D-leaning map pipe dreams on Dave’s Redistricting App or on Twitter and proposes that as “the new map.”

Anyone know what the carbon footprint of doing this for 2 hours is? That banner creates a lot of drag.

Texas is quite the mess.

I was doing some extremely rough, back-of-the-envelope calculations, how much in fines say 50 Texas Democrats might run up, staying out of state for the rest of 2025 (my understanding is after December 2025, it’s too late to redraw the maps in time for the midterms).
If somehow the TX legislature arranged to stay in session every day, my very crude calculation is those TX legislators could be collectively on the books for around $3.8 million in fines.
It would be hilarious if JB then just wrote Texas a check for that amount.

How much for an ad on CapitolFax?
Really? Wow. OK, let’s go with hiring the plane and the banner instead.

The Maps are gone,
Thrown out and redrawn,
Deep in the Heart of Texas

We could be doing so much more; for example, we could have billboards recruiting students to our universities - Illinois does not limit what can be taught (aka reality). Graduating seniors and their parents are already starting to look elsewhere; its time for Illinois to reach out and facilitate.
