I believe that the universe jumped to this horrendous timeline when the Cubs won the Series in 2016, and it will require a painful and ignominious Series loss to bring things back.
Happy for my Cubs but also very happy for the contributions of Javy Baez and Kyle Schwarber to their teams.
Still trying to figure out the logic of the MLB having the Phillies-Dodgers be the early game in LA after a late game last night. Gonna be a long wait til 8:08

Nice win yesterday. At least this year won’t be like ‘84 and ‘03 when the Cubs led the series then got swept in the remaining games.
Family members were at the game last night at Wrigley. Send lots of pictures to my phone. An exciting, nerve wracking game to watch. Cubs won. No exclamation point.

All I can say for the Cubs is that my Mom was still alive when they won the World Series, which made her quite happy, and I hope she’s enjoying this season in the great beyond.

It’s probably because the Phillies have a nearly 6 hour flight home tonight, and the Dodgers may be going with them. Brewers (and possibly the Cubs) only have a short drive and will probably complete both their game and travel before the Phillies land.

Cubs have already met my personal “goals” for the season (90+ wins and make the playoffs), so everything else is gravy. Of course I’d love to see them knock out the Brewers, but it’ll be a tough job winning three in a row against them.
Something about Moms, Cubs baseball, and WGN. Sure many Moms are watching from the great beyond. Many spent their afternoons tuned in to WGN for day baseball.
Took my Moms to a Cubs game and afterwards Ernie Banks came by to say hello and shook her hand. She was beyond thrilled.
What a memory.

Cubs manager started M Boyd on three days’ rest in Game 1. It went very poorly. He’s starting the same guy on four days (normal) rest tonight. Hope it goes better. In fairness, Boyd only threw 30 pitches on Saturday in Game 1, so he should be well rested!

This Chicago Cubs team reminds me a lot of the 2015 team.
Most of the pieces are there with a few left to acquire. Some big injuries plagued this team and if those pieces come back for big years next year; lookout. I’m talking about:
Horton (could be our ace)
Steele (was supposed to be our ace)
Amaya (starting catcher with a hot bat; finally)
Cassie (Could be a great OF
They need to let Tucker walk, move Shaw to outfield, play for a start 3rd baseman (Bregman or Suarez) and move Suzuki to permanent DH and let Cassie play right.
But it would be nice if this team makes it to the NLCS.

Haven’t seen Mayor Johnson or Governor Pritzker in attendance at any postseason games this year. There was a time when political dignitaries used to attend games, throw out ceremonial pitches, and sometimes, make wagers with municipal leaders from other cities.
Pritzker was at Wrigley last night. There were right-wing gripes going around on social media that he was not in his seat before the National Anthem - to me it looked like he probably went in later and without fanfare for security reasons. If Pritzker was doing silly wagers with pols he’d be criticized for that too. Pols can’t win when it comes to sports

Schwarbs had quite a night. Unfortunately, the front office took OW’s advice during the teardown, so the Phils got to reap the benefit.

It’s always a better year when the Yankees are out before the Cubs. Nothing more annoying than the New York bias of sports reporting.

The first innings of these games have been crazy.
Then it settles down.
I agree that 8:08 pm start for Cubs.
