Reports: As winter rolls in, Bovino heading for warmer climes

Wednesday, Nov 12, 2025 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Not sure I believe it yet, because so many Border Patrol statements and rumors have turned out to be false, but…

* CNN

Bovino and his officers are expected to head to Charlotte, North Carolina, then continue to New Orleans, according to two of the officials, who stressed plans are still being finalized.

“Never attack Chicago in the winter,” is a snarky slogan I’ve seen online since the story broke. Gov. Pritzker jokingly called Bovino a “snowflake” yesterday.

* However, if Bovino & Co. return in early March, that could be right before the state primary election. And if his next incursion is as disruptive to everyday lives as his latest, then Democratic candidates who have tried to downplay or at least not play up the storm could very well be at a disadvantage.

…Adding… The whole bunch of them just isn’t a reliable information source

Operation Midway Blitz started September 9th.

You are being too nice here. I can’t see how, in a Democratic primary, being vocally anti-ICE doesn’t help a candidate.

  2. - Candy Dogood - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 9:06 am:

I recently discovered Greg Bovino is 5′4″.

  3. - Original Rambler - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 9:11 am:

I fully expect ICE to be deployed in a manner to disrupt elections through the mid terms in favor of MAGA candidates. Which is why their presence in Illinois will ebb and flow with the need for them to be present in other parts of the country.

  4. - West Side the Best Side - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 9:20 am:

They can come back for the South Side Irish parade. Bovino can be a leprechaun.

“I recently discovered Greg Bovino is 5′4″.”

Based on my 30 years in law enforcement, that speaks volumes.

He looks like the kind of guy who could start a riot in an empty room.

-I recently discovered Greg Bovino is 5′4″.-

Someone’s height is totally irrelevant. It’s Greg’s actions on the job.

  7. - JLW - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 9:40 am:

If they think they don’t like the weather in November, can’t wait to see how they like March.

  8. - Retired School Board Member - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 9:44 am:

Decreased from when? From September 2025? If so, that’s apples and oranges. What were the numbers for October 2024? That would be the appropriate comparison.

  9. - Walker - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 9:51 am:

Candy, I thought you were demonstrating how easy it is to put out false numbers.

ICE melts with the first snowfall in Chicago.

  11. - Annonin' - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 10:30 am:

Hope he keeps his hotel because we areguessin’ the weeks ahead will see him back in court on a regular basis. Button up

    =Someone’s height is totally irrelevant.=

So is the complexion of their skin. But I agree that we should keep the focus on Bovino tear gassing innocent people and lying about it in court.

  13. - Rahm's Parking Meter - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 11:16 am:

Someone doesn’t want to be ICE cold :) .

Actions can be the result of a complex. Especially when you’re a teeny tiny little guy like Bovino.

Many people are saying his actions are compensating for his stature.

Here are the numbers from the Chicago crime website heyjack***.com, which I can assure you is not liberal or anti-cop in any sense of the word.

    Jan 1 - Nov 10:
    2025: 387 killed, 1427 wounded
    2024: 543 killed, 2236 wounded
    2023: 578 killed, 2234 wounded
    2022: 636 killed, 2628 wounded
    2021: 764 killed, 3327 wounded
    2020: 708 killed, 3072 wounded
    2019: 461 killed, 2004 wounded

  17. - From DaZoo - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 12:07 pm:

Maybe he’s moving on for efficiency reasons. It’s harder to perform profile stops when there is less skin to see and everybody is dressed the same. /s

My brother was short. He made up for it with a big mouth and attitude in high school. Fortunately his friendships reminded him that character was important. This helped him later in life to use the big attitude to stand up for others and stare “down” people who were crossing a line.

So I get the short stature, big attitude correlation. It’s too bad Bovino isn’t of better character.

  19. - Dtown Resident - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 12:41 pm:

The official and unofficial numbers of shootings and murders are indeed both way down but that started months before their operations. The May-Agust numbers were the lowest since 1965. The decline was really starting to gain traction around this time last year. Ahc7 has a tracker too and it shows the declines happening over the past 12 months. https://abc7chicago.com/feature/chicago-safety-tracker-crime-stats-how-safe-is-my-neighborhood-zip-code-statistics/12385906/

=ICE melts with the first snowfall in Chicago.=

    Winner.

So, if I understand the story correctly…the guys that like to rough up women, pepper spray toddlers, and cannot go after anyone without a tank and 20 guys dressed for combat cannot take cold temps and snow? And they will winter in the Carolina’s? Sounds like a dystopian Del Webb commercial.

    But definitely on brand.

  21. - Pundent - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 1:25 pm:

=The official and unofficial numbers of shootings and murders are indeed both way down but that started months before their operations.=

There’s no correlation (or justification)between Midway Blitz and crime stats. The only way it would make sense is if the data supported immigrants being responsible for increases in crime. And we know that’s not the case. It’s simply a pre-text for racial profiling and thuggish behavior.

  22. - Socially DIstant Watcher - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 1:53 pm:

We had fewer murders in Chicago this summer than any summer in over half a century. Before Bovino showed up.

The bigger question is, what will the bill be for civil damages when the lawsuits against Bovino’s crew are resolved? Snatching citizens off the street without justification and holding them for days ain’t cheap.

What’s that old saying…. don’t let the door hit your behind on the way out??

  24. - TinyDancer(FKASue) - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 2:34 pm:

Here’s your hat, what’s your hurry?
Don’t let the screen door hit ya on the way out.

  25. - Thomas Paine - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 2:55 pm:

The joke is on Shortstack: March and April are winter months in Chicago.

  26. - Ben Tre - Wednesday, Nov 12, 25 @ 3:19 pm:

Leaving because of cold weather, or leaving because he’s a few days short of being held in contempt of court?
