Good morning! (Updated)
Wednesday, Dec 10, 2025 - Posted by Rich Miller * Elvis… And when those blue snowflakes start falling Let’s try to top $45,000 today to buy Christmas presents for foster kids. Click here and thanks! * This is an open thread. …Adding… Thanks to a generous $800 contribution, we’ve topped $45,000 today. Thanks! We’ve just about matched last year’s total, but we’re far away from the record-setting year of $57,844 raised in 2023. We had some very big contributions that year (and last year), so hopefully those folks return. But we cannot count on that, so, please, click here and give. Thanks again!

In NYT the other day, there was an article that online casinos in Pennsylvania generate over 100 million a month. Perhaps a source of additional tax revenue for Illinois and property tax relief.

In 1968 teenage me viewed Elvis as an aged antique, but he was just 33 and performing at a high level. None of us should be held accountable for our teenage opinions….

DeKalb ok’d a new 560-acre data center this week. To be built just south of the Meta property, they will cool the servers using propylene glycol in a closed-loop system — no water.
It will still suck electricity like mad, though. ComEd will have to build two new substations.
First of four buildings/phases is expected to come online in 2029.

The Springfield area could be getting its first Data Center in a few years, albeit in the far southwest corner of Sangamon County near the newly opened solar farm (near Lowder). Lots of support and opposition for CyrusOne’s plans for the center as well as concern about how area residents’ utility bills will be affected.
