The Cubs trade for Edward Cabrera tells me they are serious about being cheap again and not spending the kind of money needed to make a run this year. There were better free agent pitchers available out there. Cabrera has never thrown more than 137 innings in the majors and is still quite an unproven commodity.

Plants are sprouting out of the ground and a bush appears to be budding leaves in early January. It’s the new climate normal.
Saddened to hear of Dan Egler’s passing earlier this week. As an Illini grad, Indiana is a major rival, but I’ll be happy to see them win the rest of the way in his memory.
