Gov. Pritzker said the energy bill will save customers $13.4B over 20 years. Let’s break that down. 20 years is 7,300 days. According to the 2020 census there are 12 million people living in Illinois. That equates to a savings of a whopping $0.15/day ($13.4B/(7300*12M).
Contrast that “significant” savings against the following guaranteed increase in costs found on page 211 of the legislation: “The limitation (on costs) shall be increased by an additional 1.65 percentage points of the amount paid per kilowatthour by eligible retail customers during the year ending May 31, 2009 starting with the delivery year commencing June 1, 2027.”
So CRGA mandates a cost increase against a savings of less than a quarter a day. Do the math!
