Good morning!
Wednesday, Jan 14, 2026 - Posted by Rich Miller * This video isolates Bobby Weir’s guitar part on “Playing in the Band.” It gives you a great insight into how he played “second” guitar. Pay special attention to his work after the 5:00 mark. There was nobody like him and there never will be… * The full song from the same show… Some folks trust to reason This is an open thread.

RIP Bob Weir! One of the greats, IMHO.
Any news on Trumps latest Sanctuary City funding cuts resulting in a lawsuit by the State? Will the State have to wait until the cuts happen on February 1st before filing litigation?

Despite half-hearted random googling I haven’t been able to come up with any stats suggesting that “Bear weather” is a real thing, i.e., that the Bears are more likely to win when it’s super cold.
Everybody says it’s a big advantage, but I’m not sure that’s the case.
I can say from experience that a night game at Soldier Field that starts at about 10 degrees and drops from there is tough to endure.

Love you Bobby

Friendly Bob Adams-
Not sure if it will help the Bears, but it will be an advantage to the brave souls who are hoping for an affordable ticket.

Thank you for that, Rich. Every show I experienced (and there were many…) I of course knew he was amazing, but hearing his work in isolation and then with the full song really highlights how his work made that impact. And I’m sending the link to a long-time taper friend of mine (although I suspect she already has it). RIP Bobby Weir

Thanks for another round.
I’ve been wearing a different Grateful Dead t-shirt from my collection every day this week. It’s the end of an era with Phil and Bobby gone. We still have Bill & Mickey; I’d love to see a Planet Drum iteration in concert at least one more time.
May the Music Never Stop.
For CapFax aficionados who are less familiar with the Dead, check out “Throwing Stones” - the lyrics are apropos to this web site and to this moment in politics.
