Shenanigans?
Friday, Feb 27, 2026 - Posted by Rich Miller * This is not the interesting part. Some campaigns paid for a joint mailer… * This is the interesting part. On the mailer’s flip side, the campaigns which paid for the mailer list their endorsements of numerous other candidates. If you don’t look closely, though, you may assume that those other candidates are actually the endorsers. Click the pic for a larger image… Gov. Pritzker, for instance, is supporting Rep. Margaret Croke for comptroller. And Rep. Nabeela Syed, backs Sen. Karina Villa for comptroller. Like Pritzker, Syed has no primary opposition in her Senate race. Yet the mailer paid for in part by Holly Kim lists her. Indeed, the only state official/candidate on that list who has endorsed Kim is Rep. Rita Mayfield. * Anyway, I’m not sure I’ve seen this sort of thing before, but I do think it’s a bit shady.

+1
I only wish this was a rare occurrence of shady tactics.

Maybe I’m just used to it so jaded. But doesn’t this happen all the time with things like palm cards where multiple candidates are listed, which doesn’t mean each of those candidates supports each other.
(Same with the mailers that the Cook County Democratic Party sends out before each election.)
If there were a picture of Governor Pritzker on the front I do think it’s far shadier than just listing him as an endorsed candidate.

That’s way different because it’s a party organization. There is an organization called 10th Dems, but that’s not what this is - which only adds to the shadiness.

IDK, the back looks more like a GOTV piece to me. It does mix opposed and unopposed candidates, which is a mixed signal. Maybe “shenanigans lite.” I wonder who took the lead on design.

Katz Muhl is gobbling up every political position she can in that area. I wonder if she is trying to position herself to replace Brad Schneider in the event he decides to retire.

State Rep and Committeewoman is not every political position unless you’re including school board which is a thankless job.

===Gov. Pritzker===
Under no circumstances would I ever think it is a good idea for a Democratic candidate to exclude the Governor from a list of “Democrats we trust to fight for us” even if they are excluding Democrats that the Governor has endorsed.

I like it. I would only worry about the implications of campaign finance, but that could be addressed with sending an in-kind contribution to those campaigns.

OK. Yes it looks shady. But who we blaming for this? One of the faces on the front? All the faces on the front? Staffers who got bamboozled by somebody shady? Hmm.
