Lead single “Rewind,” though it elicits flickers of some standstill romantic dissolution, is not informed by heartbreak at all. The “I’ll rewind for you” lyric was actually inspired by Rosali’s dog. “I was walking with her, and I just started singing it to her,” she says. “She was a really challenging puppy, but I liked the idea of ‘Well, I’d still rewind for you. This is all still worth it.’” From there, the song transformed into a broader take on having no regrets and being open and willing to still love and interact with the past.
KEXP is such an amazing station. Their app should be a model for community broadcasters with a music channel. These live sessions on The Mid-Day Show are an incredible platform for artists, but also a gateway to OG Thursdays on The Afternoon Show, the next generation of grunge on Audioasis, and some meditative vibes on Pacific Notions. The weekly Jazz Theater show is great for listening at work, too. I’m learning so much about artists I would have otherwise missed out on by only listening to streaming services.
Could not agree with Dirty Red more. A regular Friday night in my household consists of listening to KEXP live sets on the big stereo. Their audio production team is unbelievable.
We’ve discovered a ton of bands via KEXP…Slift, Boekner, Circles around the Sun, Wet Leg, Khruangbin, etc.
