C’mon
Monday, Mar 16, 2026 - Posted by Rich Miller * Click here for the Pritzker-backed Illinois Future PAC radio ad for Juliana Stratton as background to the rest of this post. Even though he won, Axelrod appears to still be fighting the 2008 presidential primary…
Just the other day, we posted a memo which showed how Pritzker was still privately dinging Obama to a friend of his 2008 favorite Hillary Clinton two years after the election (scroll down). Pritzker was, and has always been, all-in for Hillary. * There was some fluttering online about Axelrod’s comment, but this actually started in early February. From a Stratton supporter…
* And that Kelly ad was followed by a crypto-financed ad which used the same Obama clip as Kelly. The crypto industry is backing Raja Krishnamoorthi. Usually, when candidates try to use Obama’s name, the diaspora objects. That’s why he intervened on behalf of Stratton against Rep. Ken Dunkin back in 2016. Dunkin was trying to claim that he was the candidate backed by the big guy. But they didn’t say word one when Kelly used his name and when the crypto bros dropped the Obama audio into an ad to help Raja. This entire primary has been silly season.

I was more impressed that the Rev endorsed her with his dying breath

David Axelrod must be part Irish. He really knows how to hold a grudge.

Only tangentially related to post, the Quigley Kelly endorsement is so funny to me.
What does either of them gain with that? Quigley gets the support of the 3rd place finisher for Senate in his run for Mayor, and Kelly got, what, 4 days of support from Quigley?

===But he’s not endorsed ANY of the candidates.===
I think there is a subtle distinction between Robin Kelly’s use of Obama and Stratton’s use of Obama. Obama’s audit is used alongside audio of the Governor endorsing Stratton with the clip ending with “you heard them.”
Kelly’s ad clearly displays the date and just calls her outstanding.
One of these ads was cut with the intent to clearly suggest that Barack Obama endorsed Stratton, which has not happened.
Though I’d think a younger Axelrod would appreciate the ‘win at any cost’ approach. “Radio listeners need to hear” indeed.
===Pritzker was still privately dinging Obama to a friend of his 2008 favorite Hillary Clinton ===
For a lot of Clinton staffers and Clinton supporters this never really stopped.
In my experience it would be damaging to a lot of people if all of their text and emails about candidates for president were made public.
If there’s a lesson to be learned from this, President Obama didn’t leave Hillary Clinton high and dry after the primary even after some of the more frustrating campaign decisions they made which I think would have justified it — but I won’t get into that here.

David, you have a podcast, a sinecure, millions of dollars, and the attention of entrenched centrists. The rest of us do not have to care about you, and if you try to make us, we’re going to remember Rahm Emanuel really quickly.

Seems like the double flub on imaginary “endorsements” by Jackson and Obama probably enough to sink Stratton if there was time and more actual media attention

Ask Jack Ryan what David Axelrod is capable of……
