Thankful that both the Ball-Chatham school improvement issue and Sangamon County mental health referendums passed.
There has to be people still under the influence on the road from home to work this morning. I witnessed one person (in a Springfield business’s truck) run the Cottonwood Drive stoplight in Chatham while I had the green light to turn. And another driver was preparing to run his red in front of me but stopped just in time.
Also on Chatham Road from Cherry Hills Church to Westchester there was an SUV on my tail and threatening to rear-end me.
Apparently these and other drivers around here had a little too much St. Patrick’s Day enjoyment last night despite having to get up early to work.
Interestingly, it looks like most of Chatham city (which is more appropriate although still incorporated as a “village”) proper’s voters were in favor of the school improvement referendum, but many of those precincts with Springfield addresses (except for Westchester and around UIS/Lincoln Land) said No.
Maybe Ken Pacha was right on his FB page back in November when he said that Ball-Chatham needed to give up their district land in and around UIS so Springfield District 186 could build their new school on campus to replace Southern View, Laketown, and maybe Lee schools? Let the Springfield addresses go to 186 and Chatham/Glenarm could run our schools as we see fit.
I move that Sangamon County redistrict their precincts mid-decade to map out those precincts who had No Candidates run in both parties for Committee Person. Those areas can be redrawn into precincts who had committeepersons run yesterday. Capitol 50 in the Vinegar Hill area south of the Complex was one of those precincts which didn’t have committee people running in either party yesterday.

Proud to live in the Great State of Illinois, where there is still wisdom in our electoral process.

Still surprised but not surprised my former Rep. lost.
Her district has gone heavily MAGA and they thought she wasn’t sufficiently MAGA enough.
