Good morning!
Wednesday, Apr 8, 2026 - Posted by Rich Miller * I really think it’s time these guys did a tour together. Yeah, it’s nostalgia. Those days are gone. I get it. But the band and their fan base ain’t getting any younger and it would be nice to finally see a reconciliation after decades of needless bitterness. Tweedy did a tribute to the late Jay Bennett during his Yankee Hotel Foxtrot concert in Chicago a few years ago after being needlessly estranged from Bennett for years. An Uncle Tupelo reunion should be the next step. Guys, do it for us… Anyway, what’s on your mind this morning?

Last night, I was riveted to the Wisconsin special election. It’s interesting how their dynamics are different than ours. Our collar counties are solidly blue while theirs are solidly red. They also had many rural counties (without colleges in them) that went blue, whereas ours are consistently solid red.
Not sure what this means for Illinois. Perhaps Democrats can make rural inroads here as well.

I want to give a hat tip to Candy Dogood for their comment and insight into so called “unfunded mandates”. I see many of these as things we should as a compassionate and caring society be doing without being told to do. I didn’t want to comment yesterday because the thread was going a bit astray. Thanks Candy.

Maybe not so solidly red anymore.
The conservative supreme court candidate lost Ozaukee county. Even in the 2023 and 2025 losses the conservative carried this county. It went for Romney by 30%.
