More negativity in the 8th

I have a feeling things are gonna get worse before they get better in the 8th.
Republican 8th District candidate David McSweeney hit cable TV Tuesday for the fourth week in a row, this time ripping Congresswoman Melissa Bean for votes on wiretapping and the mention of God in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Bean, meanwhile, blasted McSweeney over a National Republican Congressional Committee mailer that implies her votes on illegal immigration help Osama bin Laden. […]
The latest TV piece, funded by McSweeney and the national party organization, says Bean is out of sync with 8th District voters because she voted against a proposal to bar courts from debating the constitutionality of the phrase “under God†in the Pledge of Allegiance.
McSweeney called the phrase “a very important part of who we are as a nation.†[…]
The ad also blasts Bean for supporting a measure to stop President Bush’s international wiretapping initiative if it violates the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
And, as I already told you, here’s the mailer that Rep. Bean is upset about, calling it, “the most desperate and personally offensive attack yet.†Click it for a larger image.

What a dopey flyer!
Why don’t they just send out a mailer to all the registered Republicans and tell them why they should support MsSweeney. That, after all, is the real intention for this piece of junk mail.
They don’t have to talk down or scare their base. Using this approach is insulting.
Voters want secure borders, meaning physical barriers and troops. Bean want secure borders but not offend anyone - which means no secure borders. She is wrong on this issue, and McSweeney and the majority of voters are right.
Whoever designed and sent this flyer out is an idiot.

Mexicans cutting your lawn = al Qaeda
Isn’t this the message of the attack?
Is the GOP dishonest, ignorant or racist? Or maybe the GOP just thinks voters are stupid bigots?

Osama bin stupid; Osama bin lazy; Osama bin losin’ the election.

What’s the GOP strategy in the Eighth?
If the GOP is trying to get the anti-Iraq War independent to siphon votes, isn’t it counterproductive to send a mailer to remind liberals how heinous the GOP is?

Didn’t we already debate this mail piece last week?

It looks like David McSweeney would like the question for college debate teams to handle next year to be something like, “Resolved, that the David McSweeney Congressional campaign of 2006 was more moronic than reactionary.” At this point, that question would make for a fascinating debate, considering that McSweeney’s campaign is now doomed (thanks to this page-gate scandal).

Bin Laden photo on flyer is beyond the pale of decency -indicative of desperation. I think this piece backfires on McSweeney.
Flyer suggests that McSweeney is desperate.
Republicans will rue the year they decided to “demigogue” the immigration issue.

I found a site that lists everyone’s votes for the pledge at http://www.undergodprocon.org/pop/HouseA.htm Gives some perspective.

Beyond the pale of decency? Come now.
Osama Bin Latino is no more stupid or mendacious than an oil rig in the middle of Lake Michigan.
Thou dost protest too much.
When the people who invented the “mailer for morons” complains that some one else’s mailer is ‘beyond the pale’ one must chuckle at the irony.

Don’t forget that McSweeney wants to keep that little blond girl in her wheel chair, while Bean will make her walk with those magical stem cells.
