Someone already took the Wizard of Oz, although anyone whose ever been to Room 300 of the State Capitol knows that Madigan is The Wizard.

So, how about a little Greek mythology:

Blagojevich - Narcissus. No explanation needed.

Madigan - Athena. I know, a goddess, but I can’t help it that the Greeks gave Wisdom, Warfare, Justice and Skill all to her. Besides, Athena’s the only one Zeus lets use the lightning bolts from time-to-time, and Madigan’s pretty darn good with those lightning bolts.

Jones - Ares. Also a warrior and the God of War, but unlike Athena, prefers a bloodbath, even if its his own soldiers’ blood. Not known for either wisdom or bravery in battle.

  50. - bored now - Friday, May 11, 07 @ 1:14 pm:

one word that would best describe my *feelings?* blagojevich — indifferent. he’s not the reformer he promised he’d be, nor the player he’d like to be. madigan — depends. sometimes i am amazed. but usually, he makes me crazed. jones — waiting. until he proves he can play with the big dogs, what else can you do?

  51. - Kruegler - Friday, May 11, 07 @ 1:14 pm:

Madigan has no feeling. Like Michael Corleone said: “It is not personal, only business”

They are all bad for the State.

Madigan and Vrdolyak are very good friends.
Blagojevich got his start with Vrdolyak.
Just two points of influence on Illinois political history with Vrdolyak.

    Blago - Clueless
    Madigan - Ruthless
    Jones - Corrupt

  56. - Yellow Dog Democrat - Friday, May 11, 07 @ 1:28 pm:

To say that Madigan has no feelings is a shallow, presumptuous, and inaccurate statement.

The guy has expressed a passion for the House as a legislative institution, sincere but not vainglorious admiration for former members during presentations of Death Resolutions on the House floor, and often expressed his colleagial love for House Republican Floor Leader Bill Black. On the flip-side, he’s made it clear in past statements how he feels about special interests like ComEd who come to Springfield trying to pull a fast one on the General Assembly.

The difference between Madigan and the others is that he doesn’t allow his personal feelings to undermine his public decision-making.

But instead of attacking me personally, why don’t you either refute what I have to say or move on?
