* From the attorney general’s office…
Hi –
Here’s the update on the Duckworth matter.
We filed a motion to enforce the settlement Monday (attached).
This afternoon the judge entered an order into the docket (attached).
It states:
8/1/16 Def. Motion to Enforce Settlement Agreement Filed
8/3/16 B [the Judge’s initial] The Ct. has spoken with AAG & Plaintiff Atty [Plaintiff is abbreviated].
Plaintiff Atty indicates that settlement documents are being finalized.
This matter is stricken from the 8/15 & 16/16 bench trial docket.
If documents are not received w/in 21 days, Clerk to pull for the Ct’s review.
Thanks.
Eileen F. Boyce
Senior Press Secretary
Office of the Attorney General Lisa Madigan

Wonder if the Kirk campaign will comment on this at done point.

With all that’s come out in the last week or so, damage done to hurt for a while.
- DuPage Dave - Wednesday, Aug 3, 16 @ 8:23 pm:
Tammy Duckworth is a real American hero. The plaintiffs, not so much. The encouragement from Kirk for their backsliding on the settlement makes him look like a tool.

So, back to square one legally (unless the settlement $$ increased) but because whistleblowers felt slighted there was a week of stories about that and now the murderer hit today. Assuming team duckworth will not be issuing any statements this time around.

Res judicata baby!

Seems like all of last week’s legal pronouncements that “a settlement isn’t a settlement without [insert wishful thinking a thing I think I heard a lawyer talk about once]” was worth every penny paid for it.

Is the US legal system, isn’t there always an appeals court?
- slow down - Thursday, Aug 4, 16 @ 8:59 am:
What will the Kirk campaign possibly talk about without this case to kick around? They’ve got nothing else, unless you consider pretending to be a Democrat a serious reelection strategy.
- L.A. - Thursday, Aug 4, 16 @ 9:18 am:
there’s no appealing a settlement. well, there is in certain circumstances, but not in this one.
- anon - Thursday, Aug 4, 16 @ 9:20 am:
Bad news for the Kirk campaign.
- Kingsley - Thursday, Aug 4, 16 @ 9:27 am:
methinks that over the last two weeks, the Kirk camp got exactly what they wanted. lotsa news coverage on what was a dead issue and now salacious link to a felon.
- Responsa - Thursday, Aug 4, 16 @ 9:40 am:
Good. Will the total settlement amount and final component details of the payout be made publicly available now by the AG (or Duckworth campaign), or will there need to be a FOIA from a media org?
- Anonymous - Thursday, Aug 4, 16 @ 10:37 am:
Um didn’t Kirk have a felon helping him after the stroke?
