Sandy Wegman’s ad
Friday, Mar 3, 2006 - Posted by Rich Miller
Remember Sandy Wegman?
She’s running for lieutenant governor.
She’s also running a couple of radio ads in limited rotation.
This is the, um, “better” of the two (link is to mp3 file).
Hoo-boy.
UPDATE: For more longshot lite guv fun, go check out Lawrence Bruckner’s blog. He must be a busy guy.
UPDATE 2: Sorry, but I needed to take that photo down.
UPDATE 3: The Tribune has a story posted about today’s LG debate.
The four candidates mixed it up during the wide-ranging debate that included skirmishes over potential conflicts of interest in campaign contributions, jabs at the Republican candidates running for governor and talk about how to unite the party after a bruising primary campaign season.
If elected, each of the candidates promised to focus on different aspects of government.
Bruckner wants to focus on helping veterans, Wegman on fighting waste and fraud, Birkett on public safety and rooting out corruption, and Rauschenberger on growing the economy and creating jobs.

Things that make you go “hmmmm” …
- In the Land of Silos and Cows - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 1:53 pm:
What is the over/under on her percentage … 7%? In the “you know you have a lousy ad” list # 21: When you name a person as an that you differ from who hasn’t held office in over 7 years (Kustra).
“Wegman: I am different then a guy retired over 7 years ago!”
Sad
- Aaaiieeee! - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 1:55 pm:
My eyes! My eyes! Please take down that photo!
- Back in 1994, this is a great ad ... now? - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 2:23 pm:
“Hello, this is Sandy Wegman, and I am running for LG. For the life of me, I can not understand why Bob Kustra won’t debate me. Unlike Kustra, I will be available to the citizens of IL and and be more visable then LG Kustra is today” …”Wegman: Kustra’s worse nightmare”
- I'llhangupandlistenformyanswer - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 2:25 pm:
I assume she is a decent enough person, but cripes, lady! Make a withdrawal from the Clue Bank!
- Sometimes, its a cry for help(?) - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 2:25 pm:
for her own safety, take her off the ballot, she is going to bankrupt her husband on this ridiculous quest. She takes a ding at Rauchie and Joe, but the shot at … wait for it … Kustra … that is when you tell her, “put down the nominating petitions and back away”
- SenorAnon. - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 2:27 pm:
Two questions:
1) Is that an info-mercial?
2) Did she infer that Rauschenberger and Birkett were “liberals?”
- Rich Miller - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 2:28 pm:
My favorite line, besides the Koostra thing, is “I’ll take care of your money like it was my own family’s.”
She’s spending her family’s money on this ad.
- Tom DeLay's Mom - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 2:29 pm:
Looks like those political pros over at Springfield-based Omni picked-up another unlucky Republican client…just watch, their next big media splash will be the earth-shattering announcement that Oberweis and Wegman have paired-up as running mates.
But, actually, I’d say Wegman’s ads are a tad bit better than Omni’s Oberweis spots - so maybe Omni didn’t win her business after all…
TOADS.

Rich:
Do us a favor and post the “lesser” of the two spots…if this is her “better” spot - I want to hear the “bad” one!
This brought back flashbacks from my childhood - being nagged by Mom to take out the trash and mow the lawn…very, very painful.
For what it’s worth, I think Sandy is much prettier than she sounds on the radio.
- Rich Miller - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 2:35 pm:
The other one is kinda boring. “Better” refers to more interesting.
- Tom DeLay's Mom - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 2:41 pm:
There’s something wrong with your
“Comments” sections…the right
margin (with the Blog ads) is
overlapping the “Comments” and
blocking portions of the text….

I don’t know who she is. But let’s blast Dave O’Neal, too.

I can’t wait ’til the GOP Lt. Guv campaign really heats up!
I’m especially looking forward to
Dr. Chirinjeev Kathuria’s t.v. ads.
I can’t wait to see shots of him working at
his office, discussing health care.
Perhaps he will be touring a school, discussing education.
And, what I’m really waiting to see is
him walking through that Illinois corn field,
talking with a farmer about our number one
export.
That will certainly be something.
I hope Dr. Chirinjeev Kathuria kicks
Sandy Wegman’s butt!
- Rich Miller - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 3:23 pm:
Fixed. That photo messed it up.
- Leroy - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 3:26 pm:
Krusta…..I love him on ‘The Simpsons’! I’d vote for him. Hey Hey!

For Immediate Release:
Wegman takes on Kustra: “Ghost LG”
Sandy Wegman, the leading female and top of ballot candidate for “Leiutenant” Governor called on Bob Kustra to show his face, calling him a ghost of a LG. “The past 7 years, where have you been? The liberals of the Republican Party chose you to be the LG, and I am wondering where you are?” Wegman, stating if Kustra can’t be found she will take away his chair in Springfield, like she has done in the Kane Co. Recorder’s Office for guests and employees in her tenure.
The Wegman campaign has tried to get a comment from the missing Kustra, whose last know contact number is out of service.

Ask anyone from the Elgin area…if she says that she’ll protect taxpayers money like her own family’s, be afraid. Be very, very afraid.

The voice…someone please help
me get the voice out of
my head! There had to be a better way
than that for her to get her name out.
Eeeesch.
- HoosierDaddy - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 3:58 pm:
I can’t wait for her to run for VP in ‘08. Dan Quayle’s running scared…
- Anonymous - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 4:38 pm:
Her consultant is under indictment. He ought to be executed for this ad.
- Establishment Republican - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 5:43 pm:
I once saw her consultant eat an entire cake with his bare hands within 30 seconds.
- HoosierDaddy - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 6:20 pm:
Wow. My chronometer said 1:15. 75 seconds. Shoulda stuck to :30.
- anon - Friday, Mar 3, 06 @ 7:17 pm:
Like fingernails on a chalk board.
I pity the employees in her County Recorder Office–she must be miserable to work for.
I heard her say at a Lincoln dinner that her re-election as Kane County Recorder proves that a strong conservative can attract masses of Democrat votes—puhleez lady, you are a RECORDER, I don’t think your re-election demonstrated any such ideological victory.

What about this the photo of Sandy with Rauschy on this page?

If sandy gets elected as LT.Gov., who will do her job in springfield? From what I hear in Kane County she doesn’t do the job she was elected to do there, she has the county treasurer in her office every day to do it for her.
