Um, Stu?

Monday, Jul 24, 2006 - Posted by Rich Miller

Alleged Republican attorney general candidate Stu Umholtz has filed his campaign finance report for the first six months of 2006.

Funds available at the beginning of the reporting period $3,517.71
Total Receipts $67,090.00
Subtotal $70,607.71
Total Expenditures $26,305.89
Funds available at the close of the reporting period $44,301.82
Investment Total $0.00

I’m kinda speechless. State Rep. Raymond Poe (R-Springfield) raised a third more than that during the same time period.

I really think it’s time to put Stu’s photo on a milk carton. Can any PhotoShop pros out there lend a hand?

Shades of Jim Ryan’s campaign against Burris for AG. Why do people run for an office without having a chance of winning?
The Republican candidate for SOS has a ten point plan calling for you to make an appointment to get a driver’s license. Yeah, that is crazy too.
Looks like the republican campaign plan is like Bush’s Iraq policy.

    Stu who?

  3. - Political Hack - Monday, Jul 24, 06 @ 3:11 pm:

I think Stu should continue to work the way he has been working. Just because you “insiders” don’t see him everyday, doesn’t mean he isn’t wroking.

Clearly the fix is in. How long before Fitzgerald starts looking into this.

A republican in Illinois keeping quiet and hiding??…he might be the smartest guy we know.

Surprise. The combine would not get in the way of our next governor (after this one).

Stu is a nice guy, but he is nothing more than a sacrificial lamb. Then again, maybe he is angling for something else that might come along in the future, such as a Congressional or state senate seat. Who knows.

I do know that it’s kind of sad no Republican state senator or prominent Republican attorney wanted to at least take on Princess Lisa. The original thought was that Stu would run hard, but it’s kind of hard to get from point A to point B when you don’t have enough for gas, car maintenance, staff reimbursements, salary, etc. He probably does not have enough money to reorder his walk pieces.

The item left out of Capt. Fax summary is 10K came from RonnieG’s committees.

The question is why run for an office and not even try?

  9. - STOWNDATE - Monday, Jul 24, 06 @ 5:47 pm:

Stu’s on a roll!!!!!He’s lying in wait to tackle Lisa!! He’s got her right where he wants her now!! When voters see all of Lisa’s special interest money, and telling voters what they want to hear… and they see Stu’s just out there, not pandering for a single vote, not asking anyone for a single dime, he’s gonna be a SHOO-IN!!! Look out - cuz the Stu Umholtz express in ON A ROLL!!

Okay, okay, so Private Umholtz is missing in action.

So, Captain McKenna, perhaps we should send Privates Rutherford, Radogno, and Pankau out to look for him?

    Hello? Captain McKenna? Anyone here?

We can confirm Stu was campaigning in Aurora, second largest city in Illinois, on Friday evening at “Downtown Alive” along with Topinka.

By the way, the milk carton thing was used in the high-profile mayoral race in Aurora when an ad with then-candidate Tom Weisner’s picture was on a milk carton in the local fishwrap illustrating how he missed out on a mayoral forum to attend a fundraiser.

Weisner had gone AWOL during the city’s water crisis, so maybe another milk carton ad will come up if he runs again (he won in 2005).

“…maybe another milk carton ad will come up if he runs again…”

Because it worked so well the first time?

  13. - Jake from Elwood - Tuesday, Jul 25, 06 @ 1:14 pm:

Umholtz is probably just playing along the party line and in return he will probably get some judgeship or other lucrative appointment once Lisa defeats him.

I did not know what Stu looked like till today.
