Governor Rod Blagojevich has declared a special session for 8:34 p.m. tomorrow to solve Cubs’ pitchers inability to find the strike zone. “I’m just the governor. It’s the General Assembly’s duty to get things done,” the too-shellacked-hair-to-wear-a-ballcap-properly governor said.
Dave, don’t flatter yourself. We care way more about our wins.
We can do two things at once, however, and an enjoyable sideline is looking down our noses at you hyper-sensitive losers who think attendance and media hype makes you winners.
Clear?
Go Sox.
lol

Cubs, Sox? You poor people, The Cards might not be in it this year, but I cant imagine the strange the world of constant futility you people live in.
Why is it that the bats seem to go cold in the postseason? Not a good start at all…there is so much pressure on hte Cubbies any way w/ this 100 years & curse crap…now it’s all put on Zambrano’s back tomorrow…I don’t like this feeling, but I’m not giving up!
By the way …the caption is funny to those who are not cubs fans.
I can’t believe that something that has the support of both Jim Belushi and Rod Blagojevich could go so wrong. Time to scrap my According to Jim/GRT cross promotion plan.

It is a 5 game series and it takes 3 wins to clinch it not 1 like the Sux did on Tuesday. They lost the first game to Atlanta but won the series in 03 and I am pretty sure Theriot is a better fielder then Gonzo. No need for panic, GO CUBS GO!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dQPiCi38po
Considering the reaction of the crowd last night, of stunned silence most of the game once they lost the lead, I’d say more than a few of them have already mentally thrown in the towel. Anyone associated with that franchise just can’t help themselves. Only thing that was missing from last night was Shawn Marshall slamming his glove down petulantly into the dirt, ala Ted Lilly.
Great thread title Rich, Big Ups.

Quick, someone tell the Dodgers that “this is the year”, before they beat God’s chosen team again.
That is a really neat antique scoreboard. I vaguely remember when ballparks looked like that in the 50’s. Where did you find it and what does that stupid flag with the L on it mean?
I can’t wait to watch on TV tonight when the veteran team breaks out the whooping stick, sending the newbie in a downward spiral and knocking them out of the race. Baseball? No, the debate!
Geez Rich thanks for kicking us Cub fans when we are already down. What else do you do in your spare time? Go down to Children’s Memorial Hospital and scream there’s no Santa Claus?

Not to defend Dan, but Rich is wrong: the Cubs swept the Tigers in ‘07. (From what I hear…)

we commence to throw in the towel on da nort siders

Somebody forgot to tell the Dodgers they can’t hit.
Pace yourself today. Sox at 1:30, Cubs at 8:30.
That’s going to be a late, cold night. Did they lift the 10 p.m. cutoff for beer in Wrigley?

The Cubs beat Atlanta in in five in 03 and lost the NLCS to Florida in seven. The Cubs got swept by Atlanta in 98.
