Question of the day

* The setup…
Hollywood is coming to Chicago in April.
On Monday, Governor Pat Quinn announced that Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment will be filming the movie, “Divergent”, the film adaptation of the novel by Chicagoan Veronica Roth.
The movie production is expected to bring 1,000 jobs and more than $30 million in spending to Illinois. It is the first major Hollywood film for Cinespace Chicago Film Studios, the sound stage Governor Pat Quinn worked to attract to Illinois.
“Illinois is an ideal place for filmmakers with our skilled workforce, iconic shooting locations and one of the largest sound stages in the country,” Governor Quinn said. “The film industry is creating good jobs for Illinois electricians, welders, construction workers, actors, make-up artists, security guards and more while also fueling growth in our economy.”
* The Question: Who would play Pat Quinn in a movie about Illinois?

I still believe Bill Zwecker and Pat Quinn are one in the same, never in the same spot, and if Bill Zwecker is another person, Bill could pull off a Pat Quinn role fairly easily.

I’ll second the nominations of Bill Murray and Jim Belushi. Coincidentally, Pat Quinn and Jim Belushi have similar approval ratings.

J - Good point. Especially since Sidney Korshak isn’t around any more. He would have been perfect for ensuring the correct actor got the role.

It would be an animated film with Squeezy the python as his sidekick and Mean Mr. Madigan as the nemesis. Springsteen would do the musical score “Born To Fix the Illinois Pension Problem.”

He should be played by a different no-name in every scene, possibly in every shot in some scenes, to emphasize that no one knows who he is from one day to the next.

Alvy Moore, who played County Agent Hank Kimble on the Green Acres TV show. Kimble was always talking big, always giving advice and opinions packed with irrelevancies and contradictions, and always ineffectual and completely non-threatening. His availability is probably equal to Sellers’, which would make his performance as governor nearly equal to Quinn’s.

If it’s Board of Tax Appeals Pat Quinn: Adam Sandler.
If it’s State Treasurer Pat Quinn: Kevin Spacey.
But if it’s a movie about Lt. Governor Quinn, I just hope they cast Tim Matheson as Blagojevich.

- Just The Way It Is One - Monday, Jan 14, 13 @ 7:24 pm:
Maybe Patrick Stewart or even the currently-older version of Sean Connery (minus his beard, of course). Admittedly, not easy to pin down a real close famous male actor look-alike for Pat Quinn. And hats-off to Bitterman @ 2:06 pm above with Stephen Tobolowsky suggestion–actually he’d not be that far off for a relatively popular actor playing the Governor (although his BEST role forever will be “Ned” in GROUNDHOG DAY with Bill Murray…)!
