Work for the State Of Illinois… Merit Comp..
I will not be compensated for today… Volunteering my time.
I care about this place…. the impact our services provide…and most importantly…. It’s about human beings. The same beliefs my Dad held… when he fought so hard for us in the Korean War.
Working at home. Have a major deadline for the state and work is due Friday. Thought I had it done before the holiday but was told of last minute changes on Friday. So much for trying to work ahead of schedule when others have input on the work
Slept late, went to the parade. A war movie, a little yard work, fire up the grill when my boys get back from Indy, then try not to stroke out during the Hawks game.
Yes. I am currently in the gallery watching the legislators stuff all the entrails, hooves, etc that I was chopping up in some conference room on the 6th floor into some pigs intestines.
yes - spent a few hours in the Stratton last night, and a few more this morning. union person, with a state agency, no overtime approved, but too much work to finish in the normal work week.
At home today, recuperating from surgery. There is no work for me today anyway, because it’s a state holiday. The family went out, and a friend is on the way over to help me recuperate.
Not working. I spend every Memorial Day weekendwith family in Wisc. We have attended services held at a local cemetery conducted by the American Legion & VFW for many years. It is the first year Ms dupage dan and I attend as parents of a newly minted United States Marine. We go with my sister who has a son and daughter who are both active service members (Army).
I set up my Roku and watched a couple of episodes of Modern Family I missed this season. I was supposed to go to a cookout in someone’s backyard but it’s cold and damp and I skipped out on it.
I can think of several reasons. If you haven’t done so, just try powering your modem (either cable or DSL) and router off, leave it that way for 5 - 10 minutes, then power back on.
Just got home, ready for Appropriation Hearing in the morning. My wife once told a friend of hers, when you marry a lobbyist or someone who works in the legislative process you soon understand they don’t recognize Memorial Day as a holiday.
