Question of the day

Wednesday, Apr 29, 2015

* Sun-Times

Aaron Schock once broadcast his worldly travels on Instagram for all to see.

But two weeks after a campaign donor filed a federal lawsuit against the former congressman, an attorney for the donor said Wednesday he can’t track the Peoria Republican down.

Attorney Daniel Kurowski told U.S. District Judge Andrea Wood he hasn’t managed to serve Schock with the lawsuit brought April 15 by his client, Howard Foster of Chicago, who gave $500 to Schock’s campaign in 2012. […]

Kurowski said his firm tried to serve Schock at a Peoria address that Schock previously listed on forms with the Federal Election Commission. But Kurowski said the property is now vacant. He also said attorneys who appear to have represented Schock in the past have not responded to his firm’s inquiries.

* The Question: Where in the world is Aaron Schock?

Snark is suggested, unless you actually know where he is.

  45. - VanillaMan - Wednesday, Apr 29, 15 @ 1:59 pm:

I saw him under the viaduct last week in Bartonville. He was still wearing one of those expensive designer suits, which made him stand out from the other vagrant with the shopping cart who had pee-stained trousers.

The Congressman stood out since he had all his teeth and was picking some kind of muck out of his designer loafers. He grew out his beard and his shirt wasn’t tucked in.

When I shook his hand, he backed off and looked at me with a mixture of insomnia that caffeine couldn’t shake. He had an old Hardee’s Styrofoam coffee cup in his hand and he was sipping some kind of a creamy brown sludge out of it.

He looks like he has been under that viaduct for a week, at least. The other guys called him “Dirk” and told me that he was their king.

I asked him where he was headed and that folks probably wanted to know how he was doing, but he told me that he was “off the grid”. He asked me for some cash, which I was happy to give him and he seemed to relax a bit after I gave him a $20, which is all I had.

He asked me if he could borrow my cruiser and that he would get my cell phone number and give me a call to let me know where I could pick it up. He wanted to drive into Canada where he heard there would be a break for him up as a roadie for a group of Quebeckers who traveled doing a Sha-Na-Na tribute in French bars along the St. Lawrence.

Being from out of town, and in Bartonville, I had to tell him that I could take him as far as Morton, but then I needed to head south from there. That’s what we did.

On the way down the expressway, he tried to be really brave and talk about how he could get a new beginning with the French rockers. He liked French food and said he could learn how to chain smoke, so he’d fit right in.

I asked him how he will hide from justice with his face so well known across the country and he padded a growing pot belly and rubbed his beard.

“If it works for Rich Miller”, he said, “it could work for me!”

I dropped him off at a Burger King and he made me swear I never saw him.

But since you’ve asked, I thought I would let you know.

He is probably somewhere in Montreal. A fat bearded man with designer shoes, living with a group of French-Canadians and starting his new life!
