Back to the future?

Thursday, May 28, 2015 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Remember this one?…

We raised a bunch of money for charity with those slogans and more on mouse pads, t-shirts, polo shirts, coffee mugs, even (by special request) underwear.

We may be revisiting that idea.

Thanks to Dave Comerford for the post, by the way.

    Who was Governor back then?

  2. - VanillaMan - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 9:59 am:

This was before the Great Recession!

    “The Governor’s New Clothes”

  4. - Tom Joad - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 10:01 am:

I preferred the May 24 ceramic cups that Pate Phillip gave to the members.

  5. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 10:07 am:

Awesome, and a great idea to raise a bunch of money.

    Lemonade from Lemons

Being a non-insider, who does Tusk refer to? I assume it is not the Fleetwood Mac song. Although, it might have been cool to have the U of I marching band march up and down the aisles of the House playing that song constantly until a budget is agreed upon. :-)

  7. - olddog - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 10:09 am:

A good idea all way around. Especially if the proceeds help some of the 501c3’s that are getting whacked this year.

  8. - Secret Square - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 10:13 am:

IIRC “Tusk” was Bradley Tusk, one of Blago’s staff (who had departed by 2007 and was, apparently, missed).

  9. - Tom Joad - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 10:15 am:

Tusk was a New Yorker who worked for the mayor of New York. He was hired by Blago as one of his top advisors.

  10. - Former Merit Comp Slave - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 10:25 am:

Haha I do remember that! It was a great idea back then and even more so now

Highway to HELL? Some general “Assembly” required.

I still have my OT in Hell button from 2007!

  14. - Yellow Dog Democrat - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 11:24 am:

Rich, you are forgetting this timeless classic:

“We’ll burn that bridge when we get there.”

Bradley Tusk was a power-monger, gatekeepin’, manipulative $*&$@^!!

  19. - 47th Ward - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 12:41 pm:

That’s all right. These things gotta happen every five years or so, ten years. Helps to get rid of the bad blood. Been seven years since the last one. You know, you gotta stop them at the beginning. Like they should have stopped Blagojevich at FamilyCare, they should never let him get away with that, they was just asking for trouble.

  20. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 12:45 pm:

    - 47th Ward -,

    Well played.

  21. - Rich Miller - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 1:03 pm:

47th Ward won the Internet today.

=== still have my shirt - will share it with an active lobster who is interested. ===

Lobbyists are probably looking for something less conspicuous. Given the Rauner redlining of lobbyists, they want to get disguises.

  26. - Lynn S, - Thursday, May 28, 15 @ 10:29 pm:

Rich, would you consider a shirt with 2015 on the front and 2007 on the back? Or would you be willing to reprint 2007, along with anything you do for 2015? I wasn’t around here back then, but love!!! the memories brought back just by sight of the button at the start of this thread.
