All because of Madigan and the school administrators he controls…

  52. - No Longer A Lurker - Thursday, Mar 24, 16 @ 2:58 pm:

“Yep, that’s right kids the state will no longer be offering MAP grants. However, my assistant, Sue, sitting at the table to my right has maps of all the surrounding states. Maybe the colleges in these other midwestern states can offer you some sort of scholarship money”

  53. - Casual observer - Thursday, Mar 24, 16 @ 2:58 pm:

Ok kids, it’s not economic theory. I have proof it works. You see, you just let the money keep flowing in and you only pay the bills the courts say you have to pay. And if you wait long enough, the courts will say you don’t have to pay some of those bills either. After a while, all those people you stiffed will give up and walk away.
Now who really needs a college education now that I just told you the secret to success?

  54. - Mama - Thursday, Mar 24, 16 @ 2:59 pm:

You take away my MAP grant and now I have to sit here and listen to your bull… No thanks.

When I bought your little town here - Paxton - cute name! - I had big plans that will help turn it around from being a great American place with a bright future, to a greater American place with an even brighter future!

BEHOLD! The New Paxton Waste Receiving Site and Landfill!

It will be located where there are a lot of houses right now, but you won’t believe how much better you will have it after we tear those out and begin excavating the giant waste receptacles for the clay foundations!

So - some of you will be slightly moved out of your homes into a really great place just outside town!

  57. - Cubs in '16 - Thursday, Mar 24, 16 @ 3:12 pm:

  61. - Wensicia - Thursday, Mar 24, 16 @ 3:26 pm:

No, you won’t get the MAP grants, but I’ll give you a fifty dollar gift card each if you’ll work on the campaigns I plan to back this fall. After all, it’s not like you’ll be attending college at that time.

  62. - anonamoose - Thursday, Mar 24, 16 @ 3:27 pm:

“In 20 years, you might be the only people left living in Illinois.”

  71. - Chicago 20 - Thursday, Mar 24, 16 @ 6:05 pm:

In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the… Anyone? Anyone?… the Great Depression, passed the… Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?… Raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression. Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. ‘Voodoo’ Economics.
