Question of the day

Wednesday, Sep 14, 2016 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Politico

Hackers are targeting state Democratic Party officials and have successfully breached and impersonated some of them, according to a message the Association of State Democratic Chairs sent Wednesday to its members.

“A number of chairs and state parties have been victims of hacks and impersonation recently,” read the email, which POLITICO obtained.

On Monday, [Raymond Buckley, president of the Association of State Democratic Chairs] posted on Facebook that his Twitter account was hacked last week and that Facebook had warned him about someone pretending to be him and trying to delete his profile. “Three other Dem State Chairs had their emails hacked,” he wrote in his post, which has since been deleted. “Interesting times.”

Speaker Madigan doesn’t use e-mail, doesn’t have a Facebook page and doesn’t use Twitter, so we can safely assume he wasn’t hacked.

* The Question: What would a hacked Democratic Party of Illinois Facebook page look like?

Snark is heavily encouraged, of course.

  1. - AC - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:21 pm:

It would include a relevant, cohesive campaign message developed in a timely manner.

  2. - Earnest - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:23 pm:

It would have a full, detailed budget posted including specific cuts and revenue increases.

  3. - Huh? - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:26 pm:

Loudly trumpeting the turn around agenda, property tax freeze, eliminating the prevailing wage law, eliminating workers comp, a draft amendment for non-partisan redistricting, slashing social services, reducing the minimum wage law, eliminating the income tax on people making more than $1 million, increasing income taxes on people making less than $100k, bringing back debtor’s prison and proposed legislation for state wide right to work that eliminatea unions.

  4. - steward - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:26 pm:

A link to give Donald Trump’s campaign exactly 27 dollars.

  5. - Publius - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:29 pm:

It would be up to date

Big clue that it was hacked

  6. - Dysfunction Junction - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:31 pm:

It would likely include helpful instructions on how to preserve one’s freedom by becoming a “fair share payer” instead of an AFSCME member.

  7. - The Captain - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:33 pm:

“Site down for maintenance, we’re upgrading to GeoCities.”

  8. - AC - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:34 pm:

Home of The New ILLINOIS GO (an independent project of the Illinois Policy Institute).

  9. - siriusly - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:36 pm:

Anything besides plain text and the Google Calendar would be a sign it was a hack job.

Maybe the first time IL Dems are actually glad Madigan has not embraced technology.

  10. - X-prof - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:36 pm:

Bill of sale: 1 soul to Beelzebub, angel of the bottomless pit.

  11. - SAP - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:37 pm:

I assume that it would direct you to Ron Sandack.

  12. - X-prof - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:39 pm:

    … or equivalently, to MJM

  13. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:39 pm:

    Kelly Green everywhere…

“News From the Pond” - “Duckling” press releases, all the same with the usual 4-5 words swapped out for “locality”

“New Faces, New Places” - bragging posts about friends and family getting new patronage jobs and who to talk to about backfilling the old job.

“Look For The Union Label” - highlighting Rauner talking points and how Rauner labels Labor and Democrats as awful. Instead of a “thumbs up” like, you respond with “thumbs down” emojis.

“Teachers Are Our Future” - Democrats posing with teachers all over the state, with each Dem “magically” donating school supplies for the teacher’s class”

“Hard Hat Area!” - post and pictures of ongoing construction projects Democrats take credit for, or project “held hostage” to that mean ol’ Bruce Rauner!

“Aged Greatness” - pictures of Dems honoring a senior or senior group in House districts only.

“Senate Stuff” - usually has “Page Under Construction”, unless the House “stuff” needs a day to regroup.

“What’s Cookin’?” - allows visitors to ONLY add pork projects and must have a committeeman’s approval.

“Gerry’s Place” - suggesting district configurations, especially those packing as many Republicans in the fewest districts as possible. The Illinois Senate offshoot is offline and unavailable at this time.

“Sports, Sports, Sports” - selfies of Democrats at all kinds of sporting events, especially those either out of state, or Dold out to regular folk. After 26 minutes, the pictures are then deleted and ignored.

“High Scores” - post your high score on Candy Crunch…

This should not be confused with.,,

“High Lites” - Rep. Lang gives a special perspective to his “visions”, some might be about government.

    Finally…

“We Love Feedback” - takes you to a page that closes the Window entirely.

“Contact Us” - Lists District Offices numbers with the disclaimer “Cell Phones not included”

  14. - Jake From Elwood - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:44 pm:

    Gerry’s Place. LOL
That should be a featured location on the next episode of “Dad’s Home State”

  15. - Downstate Dem - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:46 pm:

It would have some quotes, highlighted, that would go something like this:

“Do you see, Mr. Mapes, once again I am always 13 steps ahead of everyone else. When Durbin and everyone said that doing social media was the cool thing to do back in 2010, I didn’t. Why? Because I know the Russians would start hacking sites in 2016. Again, I was several steps and years ahead of the curve on this and everything else.”

  16. - Jake From Elwood - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:48 pm:

I see a games section with Atari-like gameplay with titles like the “Dunkin Dunk Tank” or “Burris’ Gravestone”.
Don’t forget “Zelda and the Quest for Ballot Access.”

  17. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:48 pm:

    - Jake From Elwood -

Maybe it’s a bar Bruce goes to after a long, tough, day of hunting doves…

  18. - @MisterJayEm - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 3:58 pm:

  24. - Ron Burgundy - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 4:06 pm:

“Speaker Madigan values your input! Contact him at [e-mail address] or on his cell phone at (555) 555-1212.”

  25. - Arthur Andersen - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 4:07 pm:

    One more game:

    “Hot Pursuit with Chuck Goudie”

  26. - Ron Burgundy - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 4:13 pm:

Given the likely source of the hack and the view some conservatives have of Democrats anyway, the whole thing would be in Cyrillic.

  27. - Arthur Andersen - Wednesday, Sep 14, 16 @ 4:25 pm:

“Are your Property Taxes too high? Of course they are! Click here for a no-obligation consultation!” (Redirects to M & G site)
