  1. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 7:10 pm:

That was fast. I wonder if anyone was still in line when NBC called this for Duckworth.

  2. - Whoelse - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 7:51 pm:

Another bang up job by Kevin Artl!

  3. - Ugh - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 7:51 pm:

That BEST thing is super annoying.

  4. - Belle - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 8:00 pm:

Raja is ahead but not yet called the winner

  5. - anon - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 8:09 pm:

    Artl kept his streak going.

  6. - Precinct Captain - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 8:35 pm:

    Woo!

  7. - Ducky LaMoore - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 8:38 pm:

    ===Calling it for Trump.===

Yeah, I remember in ‘04 when the most depressed Bush team accepted victory after it looked like a Kerry win early. Best give it another couple hours.

  8. - Amalia - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 9:25 pm:

McAuliffe is a nice person and did not deserve what her campaign dished out.

  9. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 9:56 pm:

It’s kind of hard to care about state politics when there might not even be an america soon…

  10. - Ducky LaMoore - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 10:05 pm:

===It’s kind of hard to care about state politics when there might not even be an america soon…===

Don’t be so dramatic. There have been bad times before. There will be bad times again. Research Stoicism, find peace, vote in 2018.

  11. - AlfondoGonz - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 10:09 pm:

    Someone reassure me

  12. - Ducky LaMoore - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 10:14 pm:

    ===Someone reassure me===

Okay. Trump will be so unpopular in 2018 that $600 million (never the less $60 million) won’t save Rauner. Feel better?

  13. - Longsummer - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 10:16 pm:

IL story for night? Rs do well in House races, decent in Senate. But lose top prize (Comptroller). Illinois voters say “Madigan- we don’t approve of your work in the House. Rauner - we don’t approve of your work statewide.”

  14. - Not It - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 10:21 pm:

I won’t be sorry to see John Bradley go. His attitude towards others always stunk. I hated having to show his office respect because he sure didn’t.

  15. - Longsummer - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 10:29 pm:

National story “DNC bet on Clinton goes horribly wrong.” Heck, Joe Biden would have been popping champagne by now.

  16. - Rabid - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 10:48 pm:

Smooth move stiffing the new president govenor now you have to go hat in hand tail between your legs

  17. - Way Way Down Here - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 10:56 pm:

“Berlusconi” Did I spell that right?

  18. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:03 pm:

Its not a good day. Goodbye blind justice.

  19. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:08 pm:

Good bye unions… good bye benefits..

  20. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:09 pm:

    Trump won!

  21. - Deft Wing - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:10 pm:

    Called most of this.

Great night for Durkin and the House GOP.
    Madigan gets roughed up, bad.

    This settles nothing.

  22. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:10 pm:

    Rauner won!

  23. - Team Sleep - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:12 pm:

Well well well…I said five House seats and it looks like I might be right. Even a blind squirrel finds a but every once in a while.

  24. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:15 pm:

What does Trump’s and total control Republican control in Congress mean for future federal budgets? What does it mean for IL?

  25. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:16 pm:

The unions got roughed up bad tonight.

  26. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:17 pm:

So how could all the national number-crunchers get presidential and senate so right in Illinois, and so wrong in Wisconsin, for months?

  27. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:17 pm:

Is the Transportation tax a mandate now?

  28. - Deft Wing - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:21 pm:

Rauner over Madigan tonight, pretty convincingly. But this was but the undercard for the battle to come in 2018, so expect more gridlock and fighting in Springfield.

    This settles nothing.

  29. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:23 pm:

If IL can no longer use Transportation tax dollars to plug the big potholes in the budget, what other revenue can be used?

  30. - Amalia - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:24 pm:

this election is surely one for reconsideration of lots and lots of the work of “professionals” in politics.

ground game, we don’t need no stinking ground game, says Trump.

  31. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:24 pm:

So what’s the net? Durkin up 4 and Radogno up 2?

  32. - The Cardinal - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:25 pm:

Looks like the USS Court might not get to out of kilter?

  33. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:26 pm:

Mendoza is giving her acceptance speech.

  34. - Chucktownian - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:31 pm:

Mendoza should announce everything shuts down without a budget so you folks in the legislature better get down to doing your jobs or there will be hell to pay. That’s what Topinka would’ve done.

  35. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:33 pm:

Raunerites number 66 in the House…

    Rauner lost Munger statewide.

Rauner no longer has the crutch of “Veto-Proof”

Not seeing a clear victory since I thought 66 was the number.

Rauner needs 7 House votes to do anything.

Trump very well will be the one facing mid-terms.

  36. - Lunchbox - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:36 pm:

Conroy vs. Holan wasn’t even close. Looks like Deb has established herself in DuPage County.

  37. - Honeybear - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:39 pm:

Glad Kay went down in the Metro East.

  38. - Arthur Andersen - Tuesday, Nov 8, 16 @ 11:47 pm:

The Wingman never reached V2. Unfortunate.

Trump is the guy. Don’t believe me. Nate Silver is at 78% likely and the NYT’s forecasting gadget (which you should check out if you’re running on caffeine) has him at 80%.

  39. - Honeybear - Wednesday, Nov 9, 16 @ 12:34 am:

Weber and Bleyer went down for the 5th District Appellate Court.

AFSCME legal options are now off the table.

The great Labor War with AFSCME will start when the ILRB rules for total impasse on Nov 15th.

Rauner doesn’t need to gain house seats to destroy a lot of labor now.

  40. - Pot calling kettle - Wednesday, Nov 9, 16 @ 12:39 am:

For those wondering what Mautino did with that campaign money…looks like he used it to win elections for himself and local folks in his district. They are hurting big time this year.

  41. - blue dog dem - Wednesday, Nov 9, 16 @ 2:50 am:

Rauner won by default. Because of….Trump. 3 Supreme Court nominees. Frierichs vs California will be ruled on by next fall. The great labor war? A skirmish at best. Missouri with a Republican gov. Will be RTW in a year. Illinois labor is surrounded. 13%? the term ‘organized labor’ will only apply to professional sports. Sorry. Rauner won and he couldn’t even say the guys name who got him the win.

  42. - Honeybear - Wednesday, Nov 9, 16 @ 5:30 am:

Blue dog dem, I think you’re right.

  43. - Rabid - Wednesday, Nov 9, 16 @ 6:28 am:

Whats the chance that the new president will invite my govenor to the inuaguration? On your knees Bruce for such disrespect

  44. - Rabid - Wednesday, Nov 9, 16 @ 7:01 am:

Can’t wait for the new presidential coin with a pompadour

  45. - Davos Seaworth - Wednesday, Nov 9, 16 @ 9:10 am:

=I won’t be sorry to see John Bradley go. His attitude towards others always stunk. I hated having to show his office respect because he sure didn’t.=

    Amen, couldn’t agree more.
