ILGOP says Comptroller Mendoza “bought and paid for” by Madigan

Thursday, Feb 9, 2017

* Press release

“Susana Mendoza this week refused to accept independent legal counsel to fight for state employee pay. Instead, she chose to work with the Madigan family as part of a blatant effort to shut down state government and cause a crisis to force even higher taxes and more unbalanced spending with no reforms. Susana Mendoza promised us she’d be an independent watchdog, but instead she’s become a Madigan minion.” – Illinois Republican Party Spokesman Steven Yaffe

Today, the Illinois Republican Party added Comptroller Susana Mendoza to BossMadigan.com to highlight how Mendoza is working with the Madigan family to shut down state government and force a crisis.

Check out the page at BossMadigan.com/Susana-Mendoza

And watch our new digital video here.

Susana Mendoza is bought and paid for by Boss Madigan, and now as Comptroller Mendoza is taking orders from her political patron, pledging to help him and Lisa Madigan shut down the government if allowed by the courts.

Career politician Susana Mendoza quickly became a Madigan ally in the House, voting for every unbalanced Madigan budget that became law, adding billions in debt while shortchanging Illinois schools. She even voted for the highest income tax hike in Illinois history, voted to raise her own pay, and then doubled dipped by taking two government pensions.

In exchange, Mendoza endorsed Madigan for Speaker six times, calling Madigan her “mentor”. In one speech lauding Madigan’s reign, Mendoza nominated him for Speaker and called him a “man who time and time again has demonstrated his passion and love for this state,” and proclaimed that “someday, our children will learn of his contributions.”

Knowing she was a loyal ally, Madigan provided Mendoza with money and support for her political career. When Mendoza wanted to run for higher office, Madigan cleared the Democratic field for her and funded her campaign for Comptroller.

To date Madigan has funneled millions to Mendoza. Now, she’s working with the Madigan family to shut down state government and cause a crisis to force even higher taxes.

“The Madigan family.” Expect to hear that line a couple billion more times.

This tactic sure did not work during the election.
These kids have more money to spend than they know what to do with.
And bi doubt, more is on the way v

And no doubt, more money is on the way.

Who funded the Munger campaign, Mr. Yaffe?

    Asking, for a friend.

  4. - DuPage Saint - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 1:05 pm:

I am a Republican and really this blame Madigan stuff is really wearing thin. How about just doing your job (prepare a big budget and you know actually try governing). You might get reelected in a landslide

Thank goodness the press have been alerted. I’m sure reporters are spilling their lattes to get on this story.

  6. - Tough Guy - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 1:06 pm:

Wow, those Raunerites are getting slow. It took them this long to put Comptroller Mendoza on “the list”?. I thought they declared her a sworn enemy months ago.

  7. - Ok - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 1:07 pm:

Everything was ok when Munger was working for BossRauner.

  8. - JS Mill - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 1:13 pm:

The ISBE recently sent out a early child hood education grant (0-3 and 3-5) guidance document to school districts. At the bottom ‘Ounce of Prevention Fund” was clearly printed as a footer. Then suddenly it was changed on the website. That is just a couple hundred million in grant money available. It now appears the The OUnce is also synonymous with “ISBE”.

The Rauner Family has its’ piece of Illinois just like the Madigan Family I guess.

  9. - AverageJoe - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 1:23 pm:

Does Gov. Rauner wanting state employees to get paid no matter what boil down to the “essential” label for requiring employees to be paid the minimum wage and coming into work without an appropriation?

I guess what I am asking is would the “essential” label in the fed labor laws trigger arbitration the same as ISP and DOC officers?

Seems that would be the ball game as he apparently hasn’t been getting what he wants with the arbitrator on ISP.

Of course, that is if it actually gets to the point where there is no approp and he doesn’t want to shut the state down.

Anyone with more knowledge than I know if that is the case?
Essential label for fed labor law triggers arbitration for union employees?

I know there are other issues but I would think that the essential label would be the big one considering the last two years has been mainly about weakening labor.

I’m disappointed not to see the words “status quo” and “legislators he controls”.

Also, interestingly, no mention of the state’s “constitution”.

Hopefully they get a discount from their media folks for all of the recycled material they’re using…

Have a feeling Mendoza better get use to being targeted as Madigans side kick.

It’s borderline impossible to take this man’s public statements at any value anymore. I trust him as far as I can throw a firetruck.

    But is she his “wingman?”

  15. - DuPage - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 2:34 pm:

“Bought and paid for” describes most of the Republicans in the Illinois House and Senate, plus one Democrat that went on vacation during a critical override vote.

  16. - Demoralized - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 3:32 pm:

The Governor needs to spend a bit more time governing and a little less time being a victim.

  17. - Pundent - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 3:50 pm:

This is twilight zone stuff. I thought the way we solved the “crisis” was by getting a budget, not hiring independent counsel.

  18. - milkman - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 4:24 pm:

That coming from the man that just hired the last Comptroller that he put in office

  19. - SadDenial - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 4:26 pm:

Mendoza recently won a statewide election over Bruce’s candidate. GOP: the “it’s not us because EVERYTHING is Madigan” bit is falling on deaf ears…governors own - not comptrollers.

  20. - Enviro - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 4:47 pm:

ILGOP State Senators and Representatives have been bought and paid for by the ILGOP Governor with the deep pockets.

  21. - Been there, done that - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 4:50 pm:

    Isn’t everybody?

  22. - Cardsfan - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 6:18 pm:

    Pot, meet kettle.

Does anyone even take these “press releases” seriously anymore?

  23. - Generic Drone - Thursday, Feb 9, 17 @ 9:43 pm:

@averagejoe. Rauner plans to do to state workers what Regan did to air traffic controllers. Rauner has no plans to pay union employees minimum wage. Instead he needs appropiations in order to call any strike illegal, fire then replace the fired employees. Without the approations, he cant call the strike illegal or pay any replacements. Thats why he is so gun ho to get employees money to them.
