Denied report: Unofficial Rauner reelection “kickoff” to feature Dan Proft and Trump Wine

Thursday, Apr 13, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Tom Robb at the Journal & Topics

The 10th annual Northwest Suburban Lincoln Day Dinner, an event which provides a who’s who of area Republican leaders, takes place next week in Palatine.

Three speakers are set to address the major area GOP fundraiser: U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), Gov. Bruce Rauner and Tim Schneider, Illinois GOP chairman and 15th District Cook County commissioner.

The event’s master of ceremonies is Dan Proft, a conservative radio host and Liberty Principles Political Action Committee founder. […]

It is scheduled to begin with a private “Trump Wine & Wisconsin Cheese” gathering at 5:30 p.m. for those willing to pay a little extra for the exclusive reception, followed by a general reception at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. chicken dinner. [Schaumburg Township Republican Committeeman Ryan Higgins] said Trump Wine would be served at the event.

Higgins told the Journal that Rauner is expected to unofficially kick off his run for reelection at the event.

…Adding… From a top Team Rauner dude…

Saw your post - sorry Higgins but no campaign kickoff at that event

* Let’s hope the governor gets a better reception than he apparently did yesterday in Quincy

Many in the crowd nodded as Rauner went through his talking points, but there was not much applause. Some of Rauner’s staff members clapped at key points in his speech, but the audience generally didn’t take up the applause as they sat or stood quietly.

The applause was fairly loud and often at his Marion stop, however.

Oh, come on, who’s reporting this, the Pritzker campaign?

  2. - JPC - Thursday, Apr 13, 17 @ 3:19 pm:

Before offering extra to pay for Trump wine, guests should recall that he doesn’t drink.

Does an “Onion”-like bit really constitute fake news?

  6. - RIJ - Thursday, Apr 13, 17 @ 3:31 pm:

The folks in Marion LIKE the way southern Illinois is being treated by Rauner? They’e added the cool-aid to tap water down there.

It’s a little late for April Fool’s Day.

Rauner got a nice send off leaving Champaign yesterday-a bigger crowd outside than was inside (and considerably more animated) yelled “We want Jobs” as he wheeled out.

this is real. Have seen the invite. People of Schaumburg and Park Ridge, when you just elected Republican Trustees and Township leaders, this is what you are supporting. Get it on Dems.

  9. - Henry Francis - Thursday, Apr 13, 17 @ 3:40 pm:

Of course the report is denied.

    Just like he isn’t campaigning.

Just like he really does drop his g’s.

Just like he is encouraging the senate to get the Grand Bargain over the finish line.

Just like term limits will help balance budgets.

Just like his budget is balanced.

And this is all leading to Rauner’s tour de force.

Convincing 50.1% of the voters that he actually isn’t the Governor.

None of the problems with State government or fnances is his fault at all, and that only an outsider like him can change things. We just can’t afford another 4 years of the status quo.

Go ahead and get a picture drinkin’ that Trump Wine Guv. That’ll play great with the 30% of Illinois voters who approve of both of you.

Bruce Rauner and the Trump wine he enjoys…

I’ve never touched the stuff, but Trump Winery is a shining example of Trump actively seeking out immigrants willing to work at low wages to pursue the American dream.

Same with Trump construction projects, which have relied on undocumented workers (no papers, no problem) while promoting international commerce by importing building materials, like Chinese steel.

But Trump reaches the heights as a cultural diversity icon at his luxury hotels, where they brag about how all their swank swag is not made in the United States, but imported.

Even the complimentary copies of the Koran.
