Question of the day

Sunday, May 28, 2017

* It’s Sunday on a holiday weekend, so blog traffic is predictably light. Here’s a “fun” one from a Belleville News-Democrat editorial

* The Question: Caption?

  1. - Chairman McBroom - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 3:24 pm:

Speaker Madigan and his trusty sidekick break for a quick caucus in J.B. Pritzker’s uninhabitable servants’ quarters.

  2. - John Rawlss - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 3:27 pm:

Madigan: “Oh JB darling, come here and dance with us!”

  3. - Winnin' - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 3:35 pm:

“You know what? I love that paper.
    Ha ha ha.”
    -Bruce

  4. - Jokester - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 3:41 pm:

Paid for by the Illinois Republican Party

  5. - Rabid - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 3:41 pm:

    Want to dance goldberg

  6. - Ginhouse Tommy - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 3:45 pm:

That’s confusing, I thought Madigan always lead. White is fashionable for spring though. lol

  7. - very old soil - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 3:55 pm:

Please Rich. It is Sunday and that is something that cannot be “unseen”

  8. - South of Sherman - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 3:57 pm:

Personally, I’m just glad someone is dancing, rather than just sitting in an immaculate workshop, playing with a roll of duct tape.

  9. - wordslinger - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 3:59 pm:

No caption, but this graphic along with the language of the editorial suggest that the creators are trying to work out something personal that has nothing to do with returning to a semblance of responsible governing.

Seriously, until this very day, in all my 53 years, I never had visions of Madigan/Cullerton, ballroom dancin’, twerkin’, or shaggin’.

I could have lived another 53 years without that mental image.

To whoever came up with it — good luck. It gets better, I hope.

  10. - Rabid - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 4:00 pm:

Dancing with the superstars reining champions season three

  11. - Commonsense in Illinois - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 4:00 pm:

    Beige…I think I’ll paint the ceiling beige…

  12. - Arthur Andersen - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 4:01 pm:

Never realized what a cute tush MJM has in a gown.

Maybe that’s why he wears his pants that way. Baby got back!

  13. - NorthsideNoMore - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 4:50 pm:

Jeeze John my back is killing me from carrying you all these years

  14. - Moe Berg - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 4:58 pm:

Echoing Wordslinger’s point - just like with Dan Proft, and others of his ilk, they seem to sublimate anger about personal matters with which they are grappling into their politics. I’d encourage them to step back from the politics and instead find a supportive community that can help them come to peace with who they really are. Better for them and better for the rest of us.

  15. - Grand Avenue - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 4:59 pm:

If this is from the News-Democrat, I’d hate to see what kind of pictures the Belleville News-Republican would run

  16. - El Conquistador - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 5:27 pm:

Who’s the gangly horse toothed goofball wanting to cut in?

  17. - Anon221 - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 5:32 pm:

So… Do the two fiddles in the background represent Durkin and Radogno???

  18. - Rogue Roni - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 5:56 pm:

Belleville Democrat. Where our photoshop is better than our journalism

  19. - 47th Ward - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 6:09 pm:

Cullerton rightly gets credit for being a heck of a dancer, but Madigan doesn’t get enough, especially when you consider he had to dance it all backwards, while wearing heels. That’s not easy folks.

  20. - Norseman - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 6:59 pm:

Lame editorial board trolling hits new level of ridiculousness.

  21. - Cleric dcn - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 7:08 pm:

The Lord’s day and we get to see this? Frankly the picture is not with Rauner who cannot seem to dance to anything thing except campaigning non stop, but unable to govern. I had to admit at least Madigan can say he has produced budgets and red ink. Rauner cannot produce anything period.

  22. - Ducky LaMoore - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 8:25 pm:

Makes absolutely no sense with Cullerton leading….

  23. - peon - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 8:53 pm:

“John, are you completely sure this will show Rauner how it takes two to tango ?”

  24. - A guy - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 9:29 pm:

In the Senate we’ve mastered the Dip.
Now we’re going to change costumes and demonstrate how the House specializes in the Lift.

  25. - Flip357 - Sunday, May 28, 17 @ 10:00 pm:

“Sure, Cullerton was great, but don’t forget that Madigan did everything he did… backwards and in high heels.”

Also, it appears that the Belleville News-Democrat is in the market for someone with more than a week of Photoshop experience.

  26. - A guy - Monday, May 29, 17 @ 6:44 am:

Looks like the Speaker has gotten just about everything off his chest. His dance body looks like an 11 year old’s.

  27. - Rabid - Monday, May 29, 17 @ 7:09 am:

    Signature move, turnaround twerk

  28. - One hand //ing - Monday, May 29, 17 @ 8:06 am:

BND editor: Guys, I figured out how to fix this budget crisis thing! Check this out! Discourse. Elevated.

  29. - Dick Butka - Monday, May 29, 17 @ 8:46 am:

BND editor: Illinois Policy Institute? Sure sounds legit. I’m going to use their polling to call for more bipartisanship!
