Some people think that when I say “Starve the Beast” that I’m just talking about state agencies, state universities and state funded social programs. But look at this property tax bill. I promise you, we’re going to starve local government too!

  6. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 9:45 am:

Thumbs down on your local governments for taxing you too much. That’s why I promise to raise your income taxes! Sales taxes too!

  17. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 9:52 am:

This is a copy of my oath. I swore to protect and defend the Constitution of Illinois. That’s just not right. This oath is a farce. You know what? This pact isn’t worth the paper it’s written on…

  32. - Streator Curmudgeon - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:07 am:

  33. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:09 am:

Here’s the notice that I requested THREE homeowner exemptions, and I needed to drop two. Unacceptable. I deserve three. I used one of these places to clout my daughter into Chicago schools… This was awful.

  34. - Streator Curmudgeon - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:09 am:

“I won’t be satisfied until Illinois is down, down, down the drain. Now THAT’S what I call progress!”

  35. - Lt Guv - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:10 am:

Yes Mom. . . it’s my report card from the state of Illinois.

  36. - Belinda Belay - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:11 am:

I live on the North Shore and pay probably some of the highest property taxes in Illinois but STILL not having a state budget is far worse and is what will make me leave Illinois - NOT high taxes. Having to not consider Illinois colleges for my kids because I don’t want them in a cash-strapped, starved system is criminal. So to make it clear, it is NOT THE TAXES that are making a good number of my friends and peers want OUT, it is the dysfunction of the state government.

  37. - Metro East Transplant - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:13 am:

This colored copy is a waste of resources! I’ve commissioned my new IT division to make sure no one in government ever uses color. Savin’ the pennies one at a time!! #Thestruggleisreal

  38. - Jocko - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:14 am:

  39. - West Side the Best Side - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:17 am:

“I don’t know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway
Whatever it is, I’m against it!
    No matter what it is
    Or who commenced it
    I’m against it!
    Your proposition may be good
But let’s have one thing understood
Whatever it is I’m against it!
And even if you’ve changed it
    Or condensed it
    I’m against it!”
    Marx Brothers

  40. - Moist von Lipwig - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:22 am:

“Jeanne Ives says that my plan wouldn’t save people money on their property tax bills — well, it will, I tell you. Down! Look at my thumb, pointing down? That’s my word as a businessman. If it weren’t true, would I say it? A thumb-down is as good as gold, scout’s honor.”

  41. - NorthsideNoMore - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:24 am:

“See Property Tax bills going Down!”
Bubble caption in back of his head “just like my turn around agenda”

  42. - Stooges - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:24 am:

“Man the lifeboats, we’re goin’ down. Good thing I have on this Back to the Future life vest.”

  43. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:34 am:

You want the solution to inflation? Hi, friends. Marshall Rauner here for New Deal Used Cars, where we’re lowering inflation not only by fighting high prices, not only by murdering high prices, but by blowing the living (deleted) out of high prices. Yessir. Here’s an example. It’s a 1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, for sixty-two ninety-nine. That price is too high.

Yessir. Here’s another one. It’s a Lincoln Continental, Mark IV, 1973. It’s loaded. It’s got air conditioning. It’s got a stereo. It’s got white-wall radial tires. It’s got power steering, power brakes, power seats, power windows. And a price that is just too high. So y’all come on down. Did you hear what I said? New Deal Used Cars.

  44. - JS Mill - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 10:46 am:

    BVR: “Who’s number 1?”

    Woman: “Speaker Madigan.”

  46. - Streator Curmudgeon - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 11:21 am:

BVR: “I work. I work real hard. Just look at this callus on my thumb.”

    Woman: “How’d you get that?”

    BVR: “Uhhh…counting my money.”

Woman: “Let me tune up my tiny violin.”

  47. - Streator Curmudgeon - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 11:26 am:

BVR: “Ma, why are you wearing those sunglasses?”

Woman: “Well, I’m kind of embarrassed to have my picture taken with you, Honey.”

    BVR: “Et tu, Momster?”

  48. - Henry Francis - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 11:28 am:

Heck, this isn’t even the goofiest pic of the Guv from the weekend. There is a Memorial Day ceremony he went to in a suit and tie (yes a tie) with a big ol cowboy hat. A white cowboy hat of course (cause he’s the good guy. MJM always wears the black cowboy hat, right?)

  49. - Streator Curmudgeon - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 11:30 am:

Woman: “The analysis just came in on the duct tape ads. It says the citizens were not affected by them.”

BVR: “Citizens, schmitizens! What do they matter, anyway?”

  50. - VanillaMan - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 12:17 pm:

Polls show that everyone’s no good, but I’m winning because I’m the least no goodest!

  51. - Amalia - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 12:20 pm:

  53. - ILGOV2018 - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 2:25 pm:

Here is a picture of me, still campaignin’ and not governin’. I am tweeting now as well, just like the guy whose name I wouldn’t mention during the 2016 Presidential election and still won’t mention. Yep, love this campaignin’ stuff, not so much the governin’!

  54. - ILGOV2018 - Tuesday, May 30, 17 @ 2:29 pm:

Do you think on the show VEEP, newly elected Congressman Jonah Ryan was patterned after Gov. Rauner? No clue and just says whatever he wants? No filter, no substance, no nothing!
